@robdix I believe your portfolio is mostly BTLs? Do you think this can work if you have mostly HMOs? I guess it would still be relevant for most questions, but not the self managed component.

Working with Karen, my property PA, was a game changer for my portfolio. Even though I had agents looking after my properties, I was still having to follow things up and being chased endlessly to make decisions. Worst of all, property moves fast – if there’s a leak it’s a problem right now, not something that can be put off until later – so I was constantly being interrupted by urgent calls. Now? Karen deals with it all. She’s the first point of contact for the agents I work with, as well as solicitors, mortgage brokers, freeholders and more. She fields calls, files everything neatly, pays invoices… everything other than signing important documents on my behalf and transferring large amounts of money to solicitors. As a result, managing my portfolio now takes less than an hour per month. (I know this because I’ve tracked it.) Better yet, she’s actually saved me money on balance because she’s able to manage some properties directly – cutting agents (and their commission) out of the picture. You might not need a PA from day one, but consider it from very, very early on – even if it’s only for a few hours per week.

I don't believe in venture studios @naval sums it up perfectly here that the scarce resource in startups isn't ideas or capital which is what venture studios provide its entrepreneurs who are motivated to slog through the idea maze to solve a problem they're obsessed with importantly, an idea that isn't yours is inherently less motivating than an idea that is the best entrepreneurs aren't mercenaries like this, so they almost never do venture studios

@robdix @jasperinvests I was gonna say the same thing. Some money invested is still a great thing to learn the skill set. Otherwise you could find yourself in the situation where you make a lot of money later but have no experience allocating capital.

@jasperinvests Tough one. It's powerful to have any (even tiny) exposure to the markets to feel involved, build habits, force yourself to learn etc. But in purely $ terms, it'd be income every time.

Until you have at least £2m liquid assets, your time is MUCH better spent growing your income than trying to "beat the market" with your investments. Almost everyone gets this wrong.
