It appears the government website with the Canadian database may now be off-line. I saved the spreadsheet before it went offline. I can’t possibly imagine what could motivate a small and remote FN band with a reservation of 172 members to become so vocally and ideologically motivated. Unless there are $341.6 million reasons made in 375 installments.

Smith has single-handedly mainstreamed separatism in Alberta. By prioritizing the extreme wing of her party over everyday Albertans, she’s causing deep damage that will take a decade to fix. Our province deserves better than this divisive leadership. #AbLeg #Alberta #abpoli

Gas taxes fund road maintenance. Remove the funding, and the potholes don't get fixed. If the potholes aren't fixed, the line is "Look at all the potholes the Liberals caused!!!" Conservatives aren't interested in making your life better, they're interested in making you angry.

LOVE😍 Elizabeth Warren in the US for proposing a 2% tax on $$50 million+ households JUST 2%!! Would net $6.2 Trillion from only 260,000 families In Canada 77 Billionaires with 2% would pay for dental and pharmacare and more.... REMEMBER: They pay way less % tax than middle earners anyway

@MondoABx Indeed it should. Any church that wades into political organizing (on the right or left) has abandoned its right to charitable status.

There is a huge misconception when people claim it only takes 5 minutes to fill up a gas tank versus charging an EV. Here are the key considerations: 1. The typical time spent at a gas pump is 8–9 minutes, but it varies: - Circle K: 8.9 minutes - Sheetz: 11.5 minutes - Wawa: 11.4 minutes - Buc-ee’s: 20.3 minutes 2. Filling up requires driving to the station, which can take 10–45 minutes depending on your location and the nearest station. 3. Oil changes and maintenance take time and money (even if you do them yourself, you still have to buy oil and perform the work). EVs eliminate this entirely. 4. Home charging takes seconds to plug in, and you wake up to a full charge the next day. 5. In March, I spent $9 on electricity while current gas prices are $3.49/gallon—a savings of over $60 in fuel for the month. 6. Adding up time and money saved over a year comes to roughly 15–30 hours and over $750, and I don’t even drive that much. EV’s save you time and money and once you have one you’ll never go back to gas.

@QuirkyForum How are we going to obtain net zero with more ships in the oceans? How are we getting our oil to market with a tanker ban?

THINKING ABOUT OUR FUTURE We were giants during WW2 and we will be giants again. Trade with the USA will drop from 75% to 50%, but it will be replace by increased trade with Asia and Europe. The economies of the future will need more energy and critical minerals. Canada has what the world needs. We will build oil and gas pipelines and ports, Canada is the undisputed global leader of the middle powers. The Canadian Arctic will be a modern day gold rush. Military and industrial spending will be coordinated, Our young people will have a great future.

Carney's speech at Davos has resonated more than anything any Canadian prime minister has said on the international stage since Brian Mulroney's speech on apartheid to the UN General Assembly in 1985. Fair? nationalpost.com/opinion/john-i…

Scott Moe and Danielle Smith want to privatize healthcare. Why? Because they’re corporate stooges beholden to rich donors.
Felix Prehn 🐶@felixprehn

Private equity firms bought 500 hospitals. Death rates in their emergency rooms went up 13%. They fired 12% of the staff. Then they paid themselves billions in dividends. A Harvard study just confirmed what doctors already knew: people are dying so investors can hit quarterly targets. Exactly what happens. A PE firm buys a hospital using debt. The debt gets placed on the hospital's balance sheet, not the firm's. Now the hospital owes hundreds of millions it never borrowed. To service that debt, the hospital cuts costs. Costs mean nurses. The numbers from the Harvard/University of Chicago study are horrifying. After PE acquisition, emergency department salary spending dropped 18.2%. ICU salary spending dropped 15.9%. Hospital-wide employees were cut 11.6%. Emergency department deaths rose 13%, seven additional deaths per 10,000 visits. A separate study found patients undergoing surgery at PE-acquired hospitals had 17% higher odds of dying within 90 days. Steward Health Care, owned by Cerberus Capital, filed bankruptcy with $9 billion in debt after closing hospitals across Massachusetts. The CEO lived on a $40 million yacht while emergency rooms went dark. Eight hospitals serving 2 million people nearly disappeared because a PE fund extracted more cash than the system could survive. The private equity industry has poured over $1 trillion into healthcare. They operate a quarter of ERs nationwide. This isn't going away. The investing angle nobody talks about. Non-PE hospital operators like HCA Healthcare (HCA) and Tenet (THC) are the direct beneficiaries. Every time a PE hospital closes or deteriorates, patients flow to the nearest competitor. HCA has returned 1,200% since 2011. Patient volume from PE closures is a structural tailwind nobody's pricing in. Medical staffing firms (AMN Healthcare, Cross Country) charge premium rates specifically because PE hospitals cut staff. The staffing shortage IS the business model for these companies. The disruption play: outpatient surgical centers (SCA Health, now part of UnitedHealth) are pulling profitable procedures out of hospitals entirely. PE-owned hospitals lose their highest-margin surgeries to outpatient, and the death spiral accelerates. Pull up tradevision and monitor healthcare M&A alerts, hospital closure filings, and patient volume migration data. When a PE-owned hospital announces "restructuring," the patient volume shift to competitors like HCA starts within 30 days. That 30-day window is when the competitor's earnings revisions haven't updated yet. Free to try. (a private equity firm bought your local hospital. borrowed $500 million in the hospital's name. fired 12% of the nurses. emergency room deaths rose 13%. then they paid themselves dividends. nobody went to prison. they're currently buying another hospital.)
