An armed seditionist attacked federal law enforcement today as they were rounding up foreign invaders in Minneapolis. The insurrectionist was put down. Well done. I stand with ICE as they fight these foreign invaders and their treasonous allies. We will not stop until EVERY illegal is deported.

@GreatSam19 @WeatherProf Yes. He's talking about homes built before 1992 (before Andrew) or 2002 when FL building codes started requiring strong wind mitigation: roof rafters/joists that are tied down to structure & even ground, windows & doors built to take 100 mph wind loads & impacts, etc.

@WeatherProf When you say old homes, are we talking 1950s era wood bungalows that make up Pinellas county? Asking for a friend.

Peak #Milton gusts. Coast 110-115. Inland Bay Area 90-100. East coast 60-75. A bit low but realistic. These are not house destroying winds. They may compromise your roof and cause damage to the structure, but most roofs/walls will remain in place. Exception: mobile / old homes.

The sheer amount of conspiracy thinking on the left at this moment is deeply unhealthy. Example: All the people who seem convinced that CNN and other media orgs are trying to ruin Biden and reelect Trump. In reality, news outlets are merely trying to report the news.

@jmart Reminder: Trump is picking a new VP because his prior VP doesn't support Trump & refuses to be on a Trump ticket because Trump wouldn't tell Trump's Jan. 6 insurrection crowd to stop trying to murder the prior VP. But do go on treating this 'veepstakes' as normal, you hack.

NEW: I spent a couple hours w Burgum, a few days in the Dakotas and wrote about a very real prospect: Trump II could be shaped by a group of normie Great Plains Republicans The Plainsmen would love to co-opt Trump to tamp down the forces of Trumpism. But riding the tiger to tame him? Uff Da politico.com/news/magazine/…

Thank you for the non sequitur. I was pointing out a fact that most people are ignorant of: Israel has a large minority with full rights. I think you’re trying to say that Israeli Arab Muslims are like black South Africans? They did not have equal rights and could not vote. They could not live among whites and did not serve in the police, court system, education system or government. Israeli Muslim citizens can and do all these things in Israel, and more.

Fun Fact: There are more Muslim citizens in Israel (1.8M) than there are Muslim citizens in Kuwait (1.5M), UAE (1M), Bahrain (700K) or Qatar (333K).🤔

@DerekPederson3 "The anti-Iraq War protestors were overwhelmingly pro-Saddam." LOL Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

The anti-Iraq War protestors were overwhelmingly pro-Saddam. Isn’t one of the main arguments that Saddam Hussein was better FOR IRAQIS than the alternative? Not just that it wasn’t worth it for the US, which was true. No one who correctly pointed out that anti-Iraq War protestors were authoritarian sympathizers should have an ounce of regret, after all that has happened in Syria, Libya, Yemen, and now Sudan.
Ben Burgis@BenBurgis

Even putting aside the ugly smear about supporting terrorists, that prediction is almost certainly wrong. Most people who supported Bush's wars and smeared anti-war protesters as "pro-Saddam" in 2003 now wish they could erase that part of their pasts. Gonna be the same here.

@wil_da_beast630 Additionally, the thing about dictators is that they tacitly have the support of all the institutions necessary to monopolize power. Trump didn't then and he doesn't now. The institution in question went on to certify Trump's loss 3 hours or so after disruption.

“What is it that drove such a big increase in crime over the last three years? Well, it might have had something to do with this huge reduction of people in the prisons… progressives and libertarians, they went too far.” @Shellenberger makes the case that criminal justice reform has been catastrophic for American cities. In the eternal dialogue between the young and the old about what traditions have value and which must change, in recent years the failing to my eyes has been mainly on the side of the old, who have too often capitulated completely out of fear of not being young anymore.

@EddyElfenbein I reviewed the CarFax, saw it had been maintained at a Lexus dealer for most of its life at the proper intervals, and was willing to take the risk. I got every interior panel replaced under a factory warranty extension (about $12,000 worth of work.)

@EddyElfenbein I bought a Lexus LS460 with 120,000 miles on it for quite cheap, accepting that I would probably put another $4k in it over the next handful of years. It's been very reliable since. I'll never get it there, but the drivetrain should be good for 300-400,000 miles.
