@Gleason4plus5 One of the things I've come to enjoy about surgical neuropath is the way that genomics helps smooth over some potential disagreements in histology. It doesn't "overrule" the histology if you're being smart, but it gives space for broader consideration and ego management.

Some of the toughest things to come to terms with in our careers are our own limitations and blind spots. Always be honest with yourself and with your colleagues who show you cases. Blind agreement is risky.

Striking story which raises lots of Qs about ethics, bullying & pressure tactics, & outside path slide review. For years, any diagnosis he has issued has presumed to be right because he is the preeminent #gupath expert. Unfortunately it took a bad pt outcome to come to light.

In one week my aunt went from aphasia to having an aggressive brain cancer (glioblastoma). It is a punch in the gut. It is surreal. As we await the final report to guide the next steps, I am reminded yet again, from the other side, of how vital pathology is to patient care.
