@MandoTheDark @PishFingers I think as well a lot of the old republic stuff is buried in 2 decades old games and a niche MMO, if they made modern games and shows it would stand a chance or reaching a broader audience (looking at you KOTOR 3 👀)
English

@PishFingers Not everyone, but the main target demographic would've.
English

The Old Republic is literally the most "Autobots vs Decepticons" that Star Wars has ever gotten.
Thousands of jedi, a cr*p load of sith, lots and lots of toys to sell. And yet, LF treats it like it shouldn't exist.
I thought they were a business...

I’ve always said that this realistic cinematic format would be a great approach for adapting EU novels and comics, if Disney were not involved.
English

@666apho @wesleytypes It's not even realistic graphics that's the problem for me, I think I just don't want my games to look like I'm actually outside. I think old school like Bethesda and such are good enough for "realism", but don't actually look like real life imo
English

@Stratidemic @wesleytypes and with artstyle. its so boring how every game tries to look like real life instead of having a cool and unique artstyle. games are meant to be an escape from reality not an extension of it. the same with the internet as well.
English

@NamesWashington @wesleytypes See crimson desert works well because it still feels gamey, it's skill discovery system is also unique. I like main character power fantasies and games like KCD2 where I'm just a guy tryna survive
English

@wesleytypes @Stratidemic Crimson desert is the most game of a game I've played recently. I miss when games would let you have fun and be the main character. Now like you two said things need to be level playing field. Nah give me a sandbox with a challenge then once im strong enough let me play god
English

@kirawontmiss Man why is it so awful for people to just be curious. It's okay to ask the question if you never learned the answer, the problem comes from people denying evidence. Without curiosity, we'd never have the ability for these questions to even be asked
English

don’t cook me for this but why we can’t see any stars?

Dave Filoni explained to Sam Witwer why it’s okay that The Son of Mortis and Starkiller sound similar, says Sam Witwer.
“He says, ‘You’ve got to remember that Starkiller had a connection to the dark side of the Force. And the Son of Mortis is the dark side of the Force. So, it actually makes sense if they sound alike’”

@SSGSentinel My sci-fi interests say I should love this, but every attempt Ive bounced off ME 😩 I really need to just commit a weekend to force myself through at least 10 hours- if it doesn't click by then it never will
English

For those of you that are unaware, this is literally 140 hours of content, and this trilogy is one of the best in all of gaming history.
It is three games, and all the DLC’s that ever dropped for those three games – for six dollars, that’s an absolute steal.

@DotTheKat @CrusaderKings Your only real option is modding it yourself, export the audio file, edit, replace
English

Would there be a way to make the volume difference in the soundtrack more dynamic?
I really want parts of songs to be so quiet that I can hear my cpu fan (you know which one)
And other parts of the same song to damage my speakers.
I’ve been trying to achieve this effect manually but its way to time consuming for a left handed person

Our games have always been known for deep strategic gameplay, for intricate systems and mechanics that create rich emergent stories unlike anything else, but not for photorealistic graphical fidelity. Until now.

@anishmoonka No matter how this show turns out, good or bad, these kids need to be protected and shielded from the internet
This could be an absolute hit and you'll still get people trying to drag them through the mud, I hope they have a strong support network behind them
English

HBO asked 32,000 kids to record a 30-second video of themselves reading a poem (not from Harry Potter, any poem) and a one-minute clip about themselves and someone close to them. Parents uploaded both to a website. That's all it took to get in the door.
The call went out in September 2024 for kids aged 9 to 11 in the UK or Ireland. No agent needed. When the original films were being cast in 2000, between 300 and 1,000 kids tried out for the role of Harry. This time, 32,000 tapes came in for three roles. Lucy Bevan, the casting director behind Barbie and The Batman, led the search. Her team watched 500 to 1,000 tapes a day, then ran months of workshops, chemistry reads, and meetings with directors before narrowing it down.
Dominic McLaughlin got Harry. He's from Scotland, and his only acting job before this was a small comedy called Grow. His co-star in that show was Nick Frost, who now plays Hagrid in the same Harry Potter series. Arabella Stanton got Hermione, her one credit being Matilda in a London musical. Alastair Stout got Ron, and he'd never acted in anything at all.
Daniel Radcliffe wrote McLaughlin a personal letter after the casting went public. McLaughlin's dad handed it to him on a train. He read the whole thing, got to the bottom, saw "Daniel R." and told the BBC he was "going mad" but had to keep it together because he was surrounded by strangers.
The teaser dropped on March 25 and pulled 277 million views in 48 hours, more than doubling every previous HBO trailer record. The show premieres Christmas 2026, with seven seasons planned (one per book), all shooting at the same Leavesden Studios where the originals were made. They've built a school on set for up to 600 child actors.

@HazelAppleyard Antarctica must have a place where no other person has been, otherwise I can't think of another.
Even then though, you're guessing. It's been explored before yes, but I doubt the *entire* thing has had human footprints.

@SynthPotato I LOVES nexus. It wasn't perfect, but I got to run around Monteriggioni, navigating the streets like they were my home. Venice too! Jumping off a building onto a guard, then hiding his body in the river is going to be a core memory
English

Such a shame they’ll never get a chance to make another game, really loved Assassin’s Creed Nexus and was hoping we’d see a sequel.
A huge shame this industry is becoming so hostile to iterating on ideas that may have not completely worked first try
