The abuse took place between 2022 and 2023, starting when the victim was just 8 years old. Sarmento groomed the girl by luring her to his home under the pretence of letting her use his Wi-Fi, where he then sexually abused her. This continued for many years, until the girl was 12. The victim eventually disclosed the abuse to a friend, which led to a police investigation. Sarmento denied the allegations when questioned but was charged and later convicted. Upon his release he is ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years.
