Universities and departments have to be more open to a wider spectrum of worldviews. (That includes viewpoint diversity in departments like economics!) The status quo is not sustainable, and quarantining all intellectual diversity to “Civics Centers” is not a solution either. 10/

At some point Dems are going to have to grapple with the reality that in the face of all of Trump and Republicans’ manifest horribleness and incompetence, people aren’t rushing toward the Democrats. If you think the DSA stuff is helping, you’ve never talked to a swing voter.

If you go back 35 years, neighborhoods like Flatbush and East New York were represented by a Black DSA Mayor in David Dinkins and Black DSA Congressman Major Owens. Owens was primaried and later succeeded by Yvette Clarke. Why didn't that inspire the same handwringing as today?
