@donaldbryson Taxes support a societal structure that allows citizens the opportunity to earn wages, often high levels, bc risks are known/ predictable thru govt. We don’t life in a simple uncomplicated world that would allow low taxes.

North Carolinians already pay taxes three times on the same money: Income tax is when we earn it. Sales tax on what's left when we spend it. Property tax — every single year — on the home or land we bought with those post-tax dollars. Yet when the General Assembly proposes a constitutional amendment to require reasonable limits on property tax levy growth (with local voter-approved exceptions), critics cry “stripping local control!” Again, counties are political subdivisions created, organized, and empowered by the General Assembly under Article VII of the NC Constitution. The proposed amendment doesn’t eliminate local government’s ability to provide core services. It simply prevents unchecked levy creep that has seen North Carolina’s 10 largest counties grow property tax collections by 63% over the past decade, while inflation + population growth would have allowed only 51% (an excess of roughly $2.7 billion). Limited government means limits at every level — including the local level that hits families hardest. Protecting taxpayers from perpetual extraction isn’t undermining local control. Not “it’s implied,” but actual sources. You won’t, because they don’t exist. What you’re calling “deep” is just selective memory. Real history has names, dates, councils, continuity. Yours starts 1500 years too late. Newman read the Fathers and crossed the Tiber. You read tweets and think you’ve gone deeper than him.

Theology 101: Newman: “To be deep in history is to cease to be Protestant.” To be deeper in history to realize Protestantism is actually right where it matters most. To be deepest in history is to embrace Protestantism is the authentic expression of true catholicity.
