Big thanks to all who joined our workshop! Your feedback has been invaluable in refining our Guardrails and Self Assessment (GSA) framework, crucial for mitigating risks amidst the complex interplay of EDTs on nuclear weapons decision-making and NC3.

Last month, @theELN convened a group of experts for a workshop at the @GermanyDiplo to consider the core ingredients of a guardrails and checklist framework that will help policymakers anticipate and address challenges arising from Emerging and Disruptive Technologies (#EDTs) and their aggregate effects on nuclear command, control, and communications (#NC3) and nuclear weapons decision-making. To conclude the event, @spellerberg_m delivered a keynote speech detailing the challenges that parliamentarians face when dealing with technological complexity and the role that Germany can take as an honest broker to promote dialogue on arms control. We at @theELN are deeply saddened to learn of Ambassador Adam Kobieracki's passing yesterday and would like to extend our heartful wishes to all who knew him. Adam has been a key member of the ELN's senior network for many years, most recently contributing to our work on protecting the #NPT, and we remain in debt for his wisdom, commitment, and good humour. In 2022, he spoke at the RevCon, New York, on behalf of the ELN, warning, "What we need is to educate and train a new generation of arms controllers. Future arms control, starting with nuclear arms control, will be different from what we knew in the past [...] retired arms controllers may only be of limited assistance to the new generation. They can share their experience and knowledge on how to conduct arms control as a negotiation process in general – for example, they may pass fundamental principles and rules of the game to younger colleagues – but it will be up to the new generation to fill the process with substance." Through @theELN's work with @YGLNtweets and the New Emerging Voices on Existential Risk network, we take heed of this advice. Thank you, Ambassador.
