The idea that a country can be both isolationist and a hyperpower in a world glutted with authoritarian expansionist regimes, is so simple-minded that I’m constantly in awe when people float the idea seriously. The quickest way to assure young men and women die on battlefields inside the US itself is to withdraw from the wider world and then hope it has no designs on you. Me, I’ve grown weary of the very easily marketed sentiment that we can never in good conscience send our sons and daughters off to foreign battlefields. To me, bravery comes from a leader who very reluctantly makes the decision to do so because the stakes for NOT doing so would prove even more catastrophic down the road. The world doesn’t bend to your anti-war sentiments. The truth is, MOST people are “against war” and would not “in good conscience” casually “send young men and women off” to fight in foreign countries. Even Kent’s framing is defeatest: Trump isn’t sending Americans “off to die.” That may be a tragic outcome for some in our volunteer military, but Kent sets in up as if it’s an active choice — one that he, as the most cautious and moral among us wouldn’t make. At best, he’s naive. But I don’t think that’s the case. I think he’s an opportunist. And there’s a reason our Founders and Framers gave civilians control over the military. Despite what leftwing Hollywood has turned into a fertile trope, very few people — even in government, and even Jews! — don’t want war. But sometimes war wants us, and we field a superior military for just that reason. The Trump Administration is not Bush III; for the first time in a very long time a President and a Defense Secretary have taken the shackles off of out war fighters and are allowing them to fight and win kinetic encounters rather than PR battles. Trump knows that public support will come from not only the righteousness of the war but from our obvious intention to win it with a sober, determined, and professional ruthlessness that will lead to that end and short circuit leftist and isolationist attempts to deter that victory and secure our military and diplomatic objectives. Trump does what he thinks is best for this country based on actual world events. He isn’t interested in weakening the country to appease that portion of his coalition that wants to see the mullahs maintain regional dominance to “own the Jews.” I am today so thankful that it is he who is commander in chief and not some focus -group managed cuck who fears the tut tutting of “Cerno” or “Poso” or Candace Fucking Owens. Fuck those seditious twats. Fuck Steve Bannon. Fuck Dugin and Tucker and their neo -feudalist, religious authoritarian designs. The reason people like Kent or Tucker or Obama have such an unclean hardon for Islamism or the CCP is that they envy that kind of total pose and control. Kent isn’t a breath of fresh air. He’s a younger John Kerry without the Swift Boat controversy. He’s Wesley Clark with an R next to his name. And now it seems he may be a traitor as well. So spare me the phong virtue shower. He’s not a martyr. He’s an opportunist, and a mark for the conspiratorial-minded hucksters charged with breaking down MAGA and demoralizing Americans to blunt their global reach. I’m no longer going to elevate pussies to heroic status. If your military service renders you entirely unable — or instantly opposed, without consideration — to ever again recognize and understand when force must be used strategically, you are of no use as a civilian leader, and you are a potential enemy as a military one. You can admire someone’s service within the tribute paid being that they now outrank you logically, tactically, or intellectually in perpetuity — and so own final say over defense strategy. Ted Williams was a great hitter; but he wasn’t a great manager. Sometimes you’re too close to the game to see the machinations of the league itself. 🤷 Anyway, those are my thoughts this am. YMMV.
