@MarkKaboly @PatMcAfeeShow The worst that can happen? Wilson plays and sucks/gets injured and they parachute Fields back in and his confidence is shot and plays as such. I think it's counter-productive to play mind games with a young player finding his feet on a new team. Just my opinion.

“We've been really good at times, but not to be confused with great” Mark Kaboly / Steelers Correspondent For The @PatMcAfeeShow PITTSBURGH — Since when has anybody who has followed the Steelers attentively over the past eight seasons given a hoot about anything except for the here and now? The answer is never and yet here we are fearing that the Steelers are making a fatal error not only now but for the future by turning to Russell Wilson after a 32-point offensive performance against the Raiders a few days ago. How many times has it been pounded into our heads that the Steelers — especially under the recent direction of Mike Tomlin and enabled by owner Art Rooney II — do just enough to have a winning season just to get blown out in the playoffs by teams like the Jaguars and Browns? The answer is basically every waking hour, so what are we talking about here? No losing seasons for Tomlin spanning 17 years and counting might be something that the national folks get delirious over but if you own anything Black and Gold it is more of a sore spot than anything else. Even though the Steelers head into Sunday night’s game against the Jets at Acrisure Stadium at 4-2 and tied atop of the AFC North standings with Baltimore, from what you’ve seen so far tells you that this team is not destined for another 9-8 season and needing Week 18 help to scrape into the playoffs? Nothing, so, once again, what are we talking about here? Tomlin painted a vivid picture at his weekly news conference Tuesday that Wilson has a good chance to replace Justin Fields as the starting quarterback on Sunday. Even though Tomlin never actually confirmed that was the plan, Wilson was deemed 100% healthy after dealing with a second calf strain that has limited him for the past two months and will take a share of the first-team snaps when the Steelers return to practice on Wednesday. Anything less than another calf tweak will prevent Wilson from making his Steelers debut. By the reaction on the social platforms and sports talk radio, you’d think that Tomlin was replacing Ben Roethlisberger with Dennis Dixon. Wilson has been there and done that before just not while wearing a Steelers uniform. “Russ is in consideration this week, we'll see where that leads us,” Tomlin said. “Both guys at the quarterback position are scheduled to work (Wednesday) and we'll just walk it day by day, all geared toward putting ourselves in the best position to win the football game.” Sure, it’s unusual to bench Fields after leading the Steelers to a 4-2 record and especially unusual to make the switch from a dynamic running quarterback that would've seen his seventh different starting offensive line combination on Sunday if he started and a receiver group that, well, hasn’t made his job any easier. A six-game sample for Fields isn’t anything to dismiss. There have been good and there has been bad. It has revealed that Fields can turn nothing into something and he’s nearly unstoppable in the red zone and short-yardage situations. But let’s not sugarcoat this, he’s been fortunate to have a defense that’s allowing 14.3 points per game and extremely lucky that his six fumbles have turned into one turnover and that at least six passes over that last three games that were easy interceptions were dropped or called back. “I take into account everything,” Tomlin said when asked if he considers turnover-worthy plays while evaluating quarterbacks. Fields has his two worst games in back-to-back weeks when it comes to throwing the ball that had to be part of the process as well. Against the Raiders, Fields was erratic. He had a three-throw series where he overthrew George Pickens twice and Pat Freiermuth once. Fields also had a wide-open Pickens across the middle and didn’t see linebacker Devine Deablo, who picked it off (the play was called back because of roughing the passer.) Fields also was credited with a fumble when he fired the ball behind the line of scrimmage so hard that it went through Jaylen Warren’s hands. Now, he made up with it with his legs and that has to come into account when evaluating him. But at some point, the Steelers are going to have to throw the ball with more consistency. Consider this when it comes to the Steelers offense under Fields because Tomlin likely did: • 29th in first-half scoring • 28th in pass attempts per game • 27th in completions per game • T25th in passing touchdowns • 23rd in yards per pass thrown • 22nd in passing yards • 22nd in yards per play action pass • 20th in long passes (55 yards) • 20th in scoring • 16th in completion percentage (32nd over past two games) • 15th in passer rating • 6th in sacks taken “Stats are often for losers. It's comfort food when you take an ‘L,” Tomlin said. “I just try to focus my energies on positioning this group to win and doing what's appropriate to try to put the best collective together this week and win this game.” Isn’t that what this is all about? Especially with the opponents on the schedule to take a turn for the better come November, the Steelers can’t continue to get by with a one-dimensional offense. Who knows, Wilson might be a colossal failure and Tomlin will have to turn back to Fields at some point. I can’t sit here and tell you that won’t happen but I at least want to see it first. We have only a resume to go off of when it comes to Wilson — that and about five preseason series. Russ wasn't cooking like he did for a decade in Seattle but he hasn't forgotten where the kitchen is either. With Fields, we got a pretty defined sample that shows that he’s gotten better faster than some may have expected but he’s just not there yet. “Justin has been really good, and we've been really good at times, but not to be confused with great,” Tomlin said. “This is a competitive league, man. We're trying to position ourselves to be that team, and we got a player with talent who hadn't had an opportunity to play, so we're going to potentially explore those things. Sometimes it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with what Justin has done or has not done.” Wilson is nowhere near being a fail-proof option but he should allow the Steelers to do more of what they want to do and that starts with play-action passes that lead to chunk plays down the field. Fields is 6 of 19 on throws 20 yards down the field in six games. The Steelers have used play-action the second most of any team this year (32.3 percent of the time) but are averaging only 5 yards per attempt. Offensive coordinator Arthur Smith wants to use play action and take deep shots off of it but has been hesitant to do so with Fields. The offense in general has been conservative. It will remain that way with a little extra punch in the passing game that should open up the running game. “I just try to focus my energies on positioning this group to win and doing what's appropriate to try to put the best collective together this week and win this game,” Tomlin said. Ask yourself this: Would you rather have the known (Fields) or the unknown (Wilson) after seeing what this team has done over the first six games offensively? I’ll take the unknown if and until it proves to be the wrong decision. What's the worst thing that can happen? Another 9-8 season and another first-round playoff loss.

@elonmusk You're outwardly pro-Trump, as is Fox and OAN. Yet you clutch your pearls and claim MSM bias if another news agency does the same for the Dems! You either lack self awareness or you're a hippocrocrite. Which is it?

BREAKING: @MSNBC Producer Admits MSNBC Is 'Doing All They Can to Help’ the Harris Campaign During an undercover date with an OMG journalist, Basel Hamdan (@BaselYHamdan), a writer and producer for MSNBC’s show “Ayman,” (@AymanMSNBC) was asked what the network has done to assist the Kamala Harris campaign. Hamdan revealed on hidden camera that “what her [Harris’s] message of the day is, is their message of the day,” as MSNBC actively pushes Harris’s narrative to help her win. He admitted that MSNBC is doing “all they can to help,” Harris get elected, with the network operating as an extension of the campaign. He went on to say, "MSNBC is indistinguishable from the party," further highlighting their partisan agenda. In discussing the relationships between the MSNBC hosts and Democratic politicians, Hamdan reveals, ”The anchor and the politician are just in total agreement about everything.” He adds, “If you watch an interview with a Democratic politician, they just finish each other's sentences.” Hamdan also didn’t shy away from criticizing the network’s audience, stating, “They’ve made their viewers dumber over the years,” and explaining that MSNBC is “too cozy with Democratic politicians.” @AymanM @MSNBCPR @KamalaHarris @VP @KamalaHQ

England striker Raheem Sterling is weighing up a transfer to Manchester United or face a season training with the reserves for Chelsea. It would be a humiliating fall from grace, playing with other rejects and no chance of silverware, if he does decide to go to United

Kane is a square peg in a round hole in this England team. Play Watkins who can chase down the ball and high press along with Saka, Bellingham and we might see better from Foden. Use Kane as a sub for the last half hour if we need a goal.
