The prosecution claimed a fair trial was no longer possible. 5) Katz met with the accused soldiers, apologized for the "wrong" done to them by the system, and ordered their immediate return to active service. 6) By rehabilitating the accused, the Defense Ministry effectively signaled to the ranks that such actions would be politically protected, impacting future IDF discipline. 7) The decision was praised by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This shows that support for the torture and rape of inmates goes all the way to the top. There is no other way to understand this. The rapes that have occurred in Sde Teiman and elsewhere, the torture and the abuse are being protected by Katz and Netanyahu. The State of Israel at the highest level has its fingerprints all over this.
