Absolutely baffled by the portrayal of Joe Jackson in Michael. No mention of legendary songs like Is She Really Going Out With Him or Steppin' Out? Nothing about his important influence on New Wave?

Gavin Newsom battles dyslexia every day. It's hard for him to read a speech. Has to copy all the words and memorize it. He has made mistakes (hypocrite during Covid) and positions himself as a pragmatist, not a wacky California liberal. Will voters buyit?tinyurl.com/4d3t9snv

Obama sued, iirc repeatedly, the Little Sisters of the Poor, a religious order dedicated to the care of the poor especially ill & without family. Not one practising Catholic was unaware of this abomination (cf his dementia ridden VP)

Concealed Carry Permit Applications 'Nearly Double' in Minnesota | AWR Hawkins, Breitbart Minnesota concealed carry permit applications for January 2026 were “nearly double” what they were in January 2025, according to CBS News. There were 4,734 permit applications in January 2025 and 8,240 in January 2026. The rush for carry permits is coinciding with a surge in gun sales in and around Minnesota’s Twin Cities. Employees at one gun store told CBS News their sales were up 30 percent. MRC Newsbusters pointed to a report published by the Minnesota Star Tribune which indicated that “Twin Cities gun sales have seen their largest year-over-year leap since the pandemic, with some cities experiencing double or even triple the demand compared to the same time last year.” The Star Tribune observed, “The data, as well as interviews with gun store owners and gun safety instructors, indicate the increase is largely being driven by first-time buyers.” The gun sales appear to be driven by fears arising from unrest in the streets, concerns about ICE raids, and anti-Second Amendment political rhetoric. breitbart.com/2nd-amendment/…

Europe has a choice: Marco Rubio to Europeans at MSC 2026: > US and Europe "belong together"; America is Europe's "child," fates intertwined > Reassured alliance commitment but demanded reform: step up defense spending, curb mass migration, check climate luxury beliefs, reindustrialize, improve trade balances > Preference to act together, but US ready to go alone if needed; push for reciprocity and alignment with US priorities. Wang Yi (China) to Europeans at MSC 2026: > China and Europe are partners, not rivals. > Emphasized "true multilateralism" > Double down and boost global governance (strengthen UN, oppose unilateralism / "law of the jungle") > Called for cooperation on shared challenges, including climate (reaffirm Paris Agreement commitments, building clean energy / tech) > Warned against division and decoupling; urged joint progress for humanity My worry is that Europeans are suckers for exactly this kind of super inclusive, deliberately warm and universalist language. The Chinese Foreign Minister knows exactly what appeals to Western ears. Notice the subtext of kumbaya, of "let's just hold hands as we contemplate our common humanity and tackle shared common threats." This is engineered to really tap into the European predilection for empathy. Will Europe resist the siren call? China says it opposes "law of the jungle" but this is simply rhetorical cover for their own contradictory actions, like aggressive "Wolf Warrior" diplomacy (see what PM Sanae Takaichi just had to deal with) or territorial assertions in the South China Sea (and soon, the Arctic), which clash with the "harmony" talk. Rubio's message on the other hand embodies "tough love." For Europeans, it's difficult to hear because he's asking for direct accountability - highlighting perceived complacencies and self-inflicted weaknesses in the West - and for responsibility. By urging Europe to "step up," Rubio is signaling faith in its capabilities. Like a good parent, he's setting boundaries - if Europe doesn't adapt, the US might act unilaterally. This resonates with a conservative ethos of self-reliance, merit, and realism. Conservatives often frame tough feedback as empowering - pushing for strength to face threats rather than enabling dependency. It's not scolding for its own sake but a call to "be better" in a dangerous, decadent world. My message to Europe: BE WARY of anything that sounds like a feel-good TED Talk Because that's EXACTLY how you got to civilizational decline in the first place. Choose wisely.

@MsMelChen First, thanks for your comments yesterday. Our Sec. of State’s delivery truly reflected the sincerity and genuineness of the man. Let’s hope it does not fall on deaf ears and Europe quickly makes a choice one way or another. The U.S. can’t wait to see if they need to go stag.

AP Accidentally Praises Trump Deportation Policy | P.J. Gladnick, Newsbusters Remember how for years liberals kept repeating that illegal aliens don't take away jobs from American citizens because many of them are just working in jobs that Americans don't want to do? Well, a major news outlet has now completely contradicted that assertion. And the source isn't who you might think because it is none other than the Associated Press. The admission that removing illegals from the USA has the effect of lowering the unemployment rate came at the tail end of this AP story on Wednesday by Paul Wiseman about the glowing January jobs report, "Surge of 130,000 US hires last month is a stark contrast to the weak hiring of 2025." Despite recent high-profile layoffs, the unemployment rate has looked better than the hiring numbers. That is partly because President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown has reduced the number of foreign-born people competing for work. As a result, the number of new jobs that the economy needs to create to keep the unemployment rate from rising has tumbled. Researchers at the Brookings Institution believe it could now be as low as 20,000 and headed lower. So why would the left leaning AP, normally hostile towards Trump, make such an admission? Most likely it was accidental because it was part of AP's effort to downplay the January jobs report starting with the title which emphasized supposed "weak hiring of 2025." Although the numbers forced AP to generally concede that January yielded a good jobs report, they repeatedly attempted to cast shade over the upbeat employment news such as this: Samuel Tombs of Pantheon Macroeconomics remains skeptical, attributing January job gains partly to unusually warm weather that boosted hiring. He noted that construction firms added a strong 33,000 jobs last month. “We think it is premature to conclude the labor market has decisively turned a corner,” he wrote. So perhaps Mr. Wiseman in an effort to cast aspersions upon the good employment numbers in January simply slipped up when he made the stunning admission that President Trump's deportation policies were extremely helpful in lowering the unemployment rate. newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/pj-gl…

Today marks 30 days since Trump promised Iranians that "help is on its way." That was an empty promise, not unlike Obama’s red line on Syria. An Iranian friend told me this was how his friends would say goodnight to each other: (Persian is such a romantic and descriptive language. It’s evident in both their poetry and their insults / curses) “Hope you wake with the sound of a distant explosion instead of your alarm”
