Under the Electoral College, the President is elected by the states and it is the states who choose to run popular elections to select electors. This is actually an integral part of the longevity of the union, because the great compromise ensures that small states are not subsumed by a national policy driven be the population advantage of large states. Remove this framework and why would a state like Wyoming stick around and be dictated to by a government that only represents the coastal enclaves?

PETE BUTTIGIEG: "What if we selected our President by letting the person who got the most votes take the office, instead of the Electoral College?"

Number one: restaurant visits would PLUMMET if you saw every item increased by $20-30, which is what would happen if we completely abolished the tip model. Number two: servers prefer tips. I was one myself. We made far far more from tips (sometimes over $100/hr) than a restaurant could or would ever pay us.

I would risk it. The plan is simple. Invest the entire $1B in SpaceX. An investment of that size would go a long way towards getting to meet and speak to Elon Musk. Then, propose that the investment is conditional on having a seat on a flight to the moon (that lands and you get to step outside). Do not change lifestyle. Live frugal. The cost of your seat on the flight can then be funded by your income off of the $1B investment in SpaceX. Walk on the moon. Then you are free to live like a king off your SpaceX investment income, or sell it off. Or do whatever it is you want to do with it. If the moon mission goes sideways, your family is rich. So, not a total loss. And don't forget, you get to walk on the friggin' moon.

@PregameEmpire Neutral site games don’t automatically go to ESPN, only home games. Virginia played neutral site non cons on FOX and CBS the past two years. I think Virginia Tech played one on TNT.

@fallenleafdan @theBeerkid69 Do you think we should have a military? A fire department? A police force? All of these provide a service that could be done by private actors but government infringes on people’s rights and forces us all to pay for them and by your definition are socialist.

@theBeerkid69 Health care is not a right. It’s a service. Just like an oil change. Forcing me to contribute towards your knee surgery infringes my rights. So go sell your socialism somewhere else.

@writerintheday Tiny venue relative to those festivals. Lower supply of tickets means higher prices. I’m surprised they haven’t moved it yet

@CJMooreHoops @ralphDrussoATH Tulsa definitely would not have gotten in and New Mexico would be right on the cutline. WAB is significantly more correlated with selection and seeding than NET, which Ralph used for some reason.

One positive from NCAA expansion to 76, as @ralphDrussoATH mentioned, hypothetical field from this last tourney would have included New Mexico, San Diego State and Tulsa. I am hopeful it gets in some of the best mid-majors who lose in their conference tourneys.

@digging4fire I wasn’t going downtown. I was going to Georgetown, where there is no public transit. Would’ve taken me an hour, which I didn’t have, and it was pouring rain. Please don’t comment on things you don’t understand.

So ridiculous, yall must know. For the last month I’ve been using Empower ride hailing app in NYC. (They charge drivers a monthly fee instead of taking 20%, I believe). Cars always available. And always much, much cheaper than Uber. Tonight was particularly insane. LaGuardia airport to home: - Uber: $125 (criminal) - Empower: $30 IDK guys it feels like $5 Via days. Don’t know which good soldier built this app, or why. But it feels like they’ve punched a hole in the absurd NYC ride hailing pricing schemes that we all had come to just accept.
