@littmath That's no problem at all. Only becomes impossible (axiom of choice be damned) when each set is infinite

@Coldes_97 @tafokints In term of values, it's almost ~40% off, that's an insane "miscalculation". Don't use GPT for calculations.

@tafokints Fair, 0.3 percentage points is not massive. I just see too many people relying too much on ChatGPT, taking it at face value (not just for math), and it gets to me😅

Ludwig’s odds of making Plat assuming 53% avg win rate ~70 games to play (roughly has to go 47-23 or better) = 0.84% chance

In the ada C++ library, we are currently stuck with a GCC puzzle. We cannot seem to return an std::vector from a function without stack buffer overflow. We have been at this for over a week. Link to the issue in the comments.

@lemire @strager @CppSage @HSVSphere Careful, sometimes even when compiler optimizes the copy/move away at some optimisation level, you still need to define move/copy constructor. In short it's not GUARANTEED, bit I'm pretty sure it's done in this trivial case (especially on Clang and GCC if recent version)

@HSVSphere Maybe they should focus on making rust compile times not take longer than writing and running the whole thing in python instead

I spent years making Functional Programming more accessible. I thought the tech is great but it just lacks educational resources. So I legit spent 6 years writing articles and mentoring people on OSS projects. Forget that. Turns out, most devs don't even know trivial things like binary trees. If the following code isn't immediately obvious to you, ngmi. My New Year resolution for 2025 is to focus on more impactful ways to promote OCaml, Functional Programming and Category Theory ideas.

@ChShersh Sure, let me make a cute "fold" function that takes your operation and list and loops over that list while applying operation and return that

@w3woody @ChShersh If you're thinking that there's a trick that's faster than visiting every node once, you might want to re-evaluate your knowledge

@ChShersh I think my hang up on this question would be “what’s the trick.” Assure me there’s no trick here and I can think of at least three ways to solve the problem. What I learned at interviews like this is to ask “are you looking for a trick or just a brute force answer?”

@HaymakerXII @Dragdar_ Vanguard is already on mac. If you're talking about it not being kernel space, that will never happen ; Apple is not stupid enough to let Riot on their kernel.

@Dragdar_ Just wanna remind everyone that the scripters won't get insta banned if they are detected, they are banned in waves so the people making the scripts won't know exactly what got them detected, he could also be scripting on a mac which doesn't have vanguard yet (but is coming soon)

@mindworm666 @ZyMazza There’s probably less than 0.1% of the population that knows why multiplication actually work (or how to even define it). Simple questions often have difficult (or atleast involved) answers that people are not aware off.

@ZyMazza Lolololol. You’re right. But I mean, that’s a pretty sad question to ask. It isn’t really a question about L x W = A It has to be that he doesn’t anything about the theory of why multiplication works in the first place hahaha.

This is unironically a sign of high agency and intelligence. How many of you who uncritically memorized the formulas could really explain why it’s so and the true nature of square and cubic units? Dare to ask the question and become enlightened

@NemoBane @IsaacJLiu @tszzl @ZyMazza You need to define what an area is. Is it a function? What kind of sets it works in? What is its precise definitions…? I’d wager theres less than 5 ppl in this whole thread which could do this.
