My brother is an electrician who works in offshore wind. He sent me this photo of the largest turbine installation vessel in the world. Skilled jobs, good pay, & secure futures. While fossil fuels shed jobs & destroy the planet, renewables are delivering for the working class.

None of it would happen without the bunker oil fueling the ship, the coking coal to make the steel for the ship or the factories to make the turbine blades and lets not forget the hundreds of liters of oil needed in the turbine gear boxes. Now this doesn't mean I think renewables are bad. It just means I think we have a long way to go before we don't need coal and oil. Decades of use I recon.

Almost every sentence here is wrong Wind farms allow farming to continue around them, their land footprint is small, &they produce the cheapest new electricity available Turbines are steel, concrete & copper, & much is reusable or recyclable Calling it a scam doesn’t make it one.

Just driven over 100 miles from West to East Wales. Went through four 20mph areas, three took less than a minute to get through, the rest of the journey, 50mph,60mph and national speed limits. Stop listening to the rubbish being spouted about 20mph blanket speed limits in Wales.

It bears repeating that Welsh Government has *no* control over Immigration. So voting Reform in the Welsh General Election because you’re cross about small boats on the Kent shoreline is an utterly mindless exercise.

@jonburkeUK The point is that yesterday gas was only needed for 17.8% of supply but when the wind stops blowing it will fill the gap, as it regularly does such as here a few weeks ago when renewables could only provide a “paltry” 15.7%…..

Sorry Kathryn, yesterday wind provided 54.9% of U.K electricity; renewables 58.5%; and gas a paltry 17.8%. Last year, domestic renewables provided 44% of U.K electricity. You realise I can use the internet, right?

@jonburkeUK Yesterday gas was the biggest form of generation The forecast for Thursday is for wind to drop to 875 MW at lunchtime Relying on the weather is a fool's game

With 1000 subagents on 20-hour days, the ~60M-line SSA COBOL codebase (plus millions more legacy) could be fully rebuilt and modernized in about 45 days. That's ~30 days for AI-driven analysis/translation/refactoring in parallel, plus 15 days for exhaustive testing and validation to protect payments for 70M+ people. No disruptions.

I'm a vicar in a small rural village. I could never say this to my flock because of the outcry, but Reform are blatantly opposed to genuine Christian values and it's clear that anyone considering voting for them has not been listening to a single word I say each week

0.9% of the UK population is here illeagally, yet Reform UK blame them for 100% of Britain's problems and it receives 90% of British Media time. It's a con.

We all knew this was coming… but today I heard about it actually happening. A seed stage company backed by a well known VC openly admitted (in a board deck) that their strategy is to get access to a large incumbent’s software from a customer, clone the entire thing using Claude Code, and offer it at 90% less. Not “build something better.” Just copy it and offer it for less. The VC endorsed this as the GTM strategy. And even wrote back in writing that it was a good idea. Using a customer’s licensed access to reverse engineer a product and clone it is ethically bankrupt. I don’t know how else to put it. It likely violates terms of service. It may violate trade secret law as well (but I’m certainly not a lawyer). And a reputable VC putting this in writing in a board deck is genuinely insane. But it’s going to happen anyway. Everywhere… all the time. I don’t know where this ends, but we all knew this was coming and now it’s here.

This should be criminalised as promotion of violence and endangering those in public life in this case the PM. As someone who has faced multiple death threats, this is not funny

Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani
Yesterday, white supremacist Jake Lang organized a protest outside Gracie Mansion rooted in bigotry and racism. Such hate has no place in New York City. It is an affront to our city’s values and the unity that defines who we are. What followed was even more disturbing. Violence at a protest is never acceptable. The attempt to use an explosive device and hurt others is not only criminal, it is reprehensible and the antithesis of who we are. I want to thank the brave men and women of the NYPD who acted quickly to keep New Yorkers safe. Our officers ran toward danger without hesitation, demonstrating once again the courage and dedication it takes to protect this city every single day. My administration is closely monitoring the situation and I remain in close contact with our Police Commissioner.
