Basketball fans, I have a question.
Why do teams not trade superstars whilst they are still playing at a superstar level, yet obviously slightly past their peak? To generate a boatload of picks, and be competitive without having to tank.
Long term sustainability, cycles. Superstar, trade below peak for first round picks, repeat the cycle. Kind of like OKC.
Like I look at The Bucks, I don't get what they get by keeping Giannis? And I also don't get what Giannis gets by staying? With Giannis, they seem not good enough for a Championship due to the quality around him, without Giannis they seem worse than a play in team.
One injury, and Bucks have just blew another season.
(I understand I predicted Bucks finals last year, but that was more of a gut feel than actual analysis).
Giannis is obviously still a superstar, and would make any team with better roster construction contenders. One without such an over reliance.

Yes, we all know Maresca has often inverted full backs. But its obv Chelsea are a better team in certain games (ie vs lesser teams) when they dont. And yet, it continues.

@AshtonGgmu Tracking AM sucks. I meant a combo of the tracking CF and the standard AM. It functions more like a modern 4-4-2 midblock where 1 striker sits on the pivot. Then when you're forced low the tracking CF drops next to the AM
