Postmil without theonomy is simply revivalism. In the postmillennial future, the law goes forth from Zion. Postmil-theonomists have long highlighted the failures of these “awakenings” which were long on emotionalism and short on emphasis on law and true repentance.

I can’t see how Postmillennialism works in real world terms. For example the Great Awakening revival in Britain or New England USA was hugely influential on the populous of that period. But go to Britain or New England today and what do you find? In a few generations it is all gone. This is in keeping with the Biblical record too. Look at the history of Israel and it is a cycle of revival and apostasy ending in a final apostasy. Thus Postmill is not a true reflection of the Bible nor evidenced in our own history in the Protestant English world.

Doug Wilson recently argued that it is "sinnity sin sin" for Christians to send their kids to public school.
With respect, I believe that Wilson is out of bounds here. We're not bound by legalistic dictates; we live in the freedom of the gospel.

I do have an idea, followed by a question. Millions of evangelicals still have their children in the government school system. Get them out now. Having Christian children in the government school system is what theologians of another era would have called sinnity-sin-sin. Not a little smidge of sinnity either. Not really a debatable matter. Stop it. Crash the system. If there ever were to be a true reformation among us, Christians leaving the public school system would form a refugee column that would make the Mississippi River look like a solitary tear running down Horace Mann’s cheek. My question is a simple one, but I will divide it into two questions in just a moment. Here is the first phase of the question: In order for all Christians to get their kids out of the maw of this government school system, what would it take precisely? How many outrages would have to be slathered over the tops of all of our heads before we said something like, “Friend, enough”? How outrageous would such outrages have to get before somebody noticed? How much before everybody noticed? How far down this wormhole do we have to go? Some time, away in the future, the last holdout, some Baptist deacon in Tennessee, will finally acknowledge that when the public school system refused to allow his (politely worded) request for his daughter to opt out of the lab for the pole dancing class, with the football team as the practice audience, they really had “gone too far.” The football team was there because they were all in mandatory sensitivity training, which meant that they had to watch the girls without any catcalling, which they did grumble about a little bit.

Listened to a podcast that one of my fellow congregants sent to me by David Bahnsen and I thought it perfectly represented the failed platform, principles, and strategy of the neoconservative movement. He said that free market economics were bedrock principles of conservatism 😂

@JPHowardSr @ostrachan Theonomy has a problem with going back to the OT and thinking laws are still in place that need to supplement NT ethics. You used the example of bestiality, yet Jesus' statement on marriage in the NT, as well as natural revelation, prohibits any sexual variation.

@ostrachan Theonomy is indoctrination, it forces people to submit to a covenant God has already ended. It tries to resurrect Mosaic civil law in a New Covenant age where it simply doesn’t apply. Its not discipleship — its dragging believers backward into a system Christ fulfilled and closed

Wouldn’t it have been great if he had found some way to preach the fullness of the law to convict sinners of their complete inability to do it and the gospel of Jesus Christ, His the cross and resurrection as the only hope for poor sinners? Instead, it was just nations and towns should do these ethics to be Christian.
