Nz First's minerals policy announced today is a joke. Note there are no numbers on it- the reason why is cos total minerals royalties last year were $15.05m. And they're in a coalition govt that promised to share GST with councils & how's that gone?

@ThomasHaig @PronouncedHare @secondzeit Would it interest you to know that @grok rates posts by Republicans as false more than posts by Democrats. Even though Republicans use Grok more heavily. The X platform wold seem to be making an effort to actively counter conspiracy theories x.com/DG_Rand/status…

🚨New WP "@Grok is this true?" We analyze 1.6M factcheck requests on X (@grok & @Perplexity): 📌Usage is polarized, Grok users more likely to be Reps 📌BUT Rep posts rated as false more often—even by Grok 📌Bot agreement with fact-checks is OK but not great; APIs match fact-checkers osf.io/preprints/psya… w @captaineco_fr @_mohsen_m

When you have a moment, could you please direct me to the NZ racist conspiracy theory site(s). I am very curious to know what these are about and how they come to be called racist. This sort of thing is illegal in NZ unless the preference is for all things Maori. Or you could just list the conspiracies.

@PronouncedHare @secondzeit "Free speech oriented platform" = algorithm set to promote racist conspiracy theories, but hey, nice sanitised phrasing

I wonder if you can wrap your head around this. Not overly confident but we can give it a go maybe. A lot of the liberal turning away from X - including by your own employer - occurred in the wake of it becoming a free-speech oriented platform. Those institutions, including Stuff, preferred it as a platform that censored disfavoured views. In that way, deliberate decisions by institutions to cease using X have become seen as an indication of disapproval for free speech and in favour of controlled speech. The free speech union exists to promote free speech. I really wonder if you can surprise me here Phil.

Kiwis still underrate the economic reforms of the 80s and 90s. Story placard outside the German Embassy: "East Germany looked much more like New Zealand at the time [late '70s] than West Germany did."

Nicola Willis said our "worst case scenario" was a 3.7% rise in inflation. I argue it's probably already above 4%, and we're only three weeks into the crisis. Kiwis deserve more information from their leaders. New from me: labourcartel.substack.com/p/as-oil-price…

National is more than doubling the number of public EV chargers around New Zealand. We’re building the modern infrastructure needed to make it cheaper and easier for EV owners to get around.

👀👀👀 The Govt has committed to a Crown loan to NZT to get the PPP for the Warkworth-Te Hana highway off the ground. NZ's banks couldn't sustain full financing three competing consortium bids for the project. Also: No chosen consortium announced yet ...

What's the bet guy is the mysterious Peter Basset? Exactly the same spurious and easily debunked type of claim against the Greens, AI profile pic, makes 'authoritative' sounding claims under cover of anonymity
Suit and tie@Suitandtie9999

With the left melting down over the move-on orders targeting disorderly behaviour, let’s not forget that the Greens had the opportunity five years ago to fund shelter for rough sleepers in Auckland’s CBD, but instead directed nearly $12 million dollars into an elite “Green” private school for the privileged.

Three hundred million workers staged the largest strike action in human history. They shut down India, a G20 economy. Most of you are hearing about it for the first time now. That’s not poor journalism. That’s deliberate erasure of working-class power in real time. My latest👇🏾
