@eclecticmonae @Michael31304761 @aldotcom Nobody is rolling back anything, the highest court has ruled that race based districting is not constitutional. Maps are being changed because Ds and Rs are jockeying for control of the House; Rs in Alabama just like Ds in California are trying to maximize seats.

@Michael31304761 @aldotcom Why are you so triggered by black people? If everything is fine then why are the maps being changed, and so rapidly at that? What do you think is the point of rolling back the voters rights act?

I am so sorry that these garbage was attached to my name and the people responsible have been terminated. Although, I think this is a perfect example of why Congress needs to be paid better so that we can afford competent staff and not high schoolers whose parents are willing to ignore child labor laws.

Wow! I am so sorry about when on with my Twitter account today. Evidently, when I was enjoying the weekend, my staffers went a little crazy. I told them to echo Mike Johnson, but this is tone deaf entitled stuff and there's no excuse for it.

Just a friendly warning. We don’t even make $200k per year in Congress despite working nearly 140 days. If we aren’t properly compensated, a lot of us will go to the private sector and you will be left with some real idiots in Congress.

@CrawThe1776 @esjesjesj Direct recipients of government welfare should also lose their ability to vote until they are off of it. It’s the same reason my children don’t get to overrule me by voting for ice cream instead of vegetables.

I’m going to be real. US has an incentive problem. It should be hard on EBT, not starving hard. It should make you want to improve your self. The US system incentives you to stay poor so in return your representatives offer your more “free” stuff. People vote for more “free” worsening the incentives. One big cycle. The best example of this: single motherhood

To be so extremely clear, letting poor families and children learn about marine biology is a pure good that helps society as a whole. These people want poor people to suffer merely for being poor
MatrixMysteries@MatrixMysteries

The Monterey Bay Aquarium charges $295 for a family membership or $125 for a single adult. With an EBT card, entry is free — and up to four guests get in free every visit. There is a ZERO incentive for these people to ever get off Food Stamps.

The Virginia Governor says that she just banned "firearms frequently used for hunting"
Tyler Englander@TylerEnglander

Here is @GovernorVA's statement on her decision to sign the assault weapons ban. “I am signing this bill into law because firearms designed to inflict maximum casualties do not belong on our streets. We are taking this step to protect families and support the law enforcement officers who work every day to keep our communities safe,” said Governor Spanberger. “While the General Assembly chose not to adopt my amendment that specifically carves out certain firearms frequently used for hunting, I will work with the patrons to clarify this language.”

The r/virginia subreddit is very upset about Spanberger sigining the AWB. A little surprising, given how left-leaning it generally is (they were very mad about gerrymandering being stopped, for example). But...not sure what they expected?

Your bottom time on a 160ft cave dive, with conventional open circuit, even with twin 80s is not going to be long. Add in….caves, disorienting surroundings and panic, and i can see why this happened. Real talk, I have dove…. A lot, and for what it’s worth I’m a dive master. And I will never….fucking EVER go cave diving. Especially at this fucking depth.

This guy was born in Bangladesh, was given a new life in America, and even became an elected official in the state that produced George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. How did he decide to repay the greatest nation in the world for its generosity? By taking away the Second Amendment from law abiding, native-born Virginians.
Senator Saddam Azlan Salim@SalimForVA

.@GovernorVA's signing of SB749 marks a monumental victory for public safety in the Commonwealth of Virginia, banning the sale, manufacture, and transfer of assault firearms and large capacity magazines effective July 1, 2026.
