@ProfMulugeta @TiborPNagyJr But how can Abiy Ahmed, a person who doesn't respect the constitution of z country, use any law, expired or not, to do anything on Tigray? He first needs to respect the constitution of z country & z constitutional borders of Tigray, then he can apply authority the law allows him

Mr Ambassador @TiborPNagyJr YES! Tigray needs to be integrated (way overdue as this was a requirement of the Pretoria agreement) to the Federation or given its constitutional right to self determination (Article 39). Unfortunately, Abiy Ahmed’s attempt to “extend” Tadesse’s tenure relies on an expired law (see image below) that was intended for circumstances incompatible with the Pretoria Agreement. Legal experts who have examined the issue closely argue that this move places Tadesse in legal limbo and, more critically, leaves the people of Tigray under an administrator with “no lawful mandate.” Now the elected councils of Woredas in Tigray have started proceedings to elect representatives that could potentially form some form of ‘parliament’ that could intervene to solve the crisis. Reports indicate that the TPLF is against this conference of city and Woreda councils. Hope those who know more would provide more insight about this. @kirosgu @ProfKinfe @Tigrai_TV @tigraionline @dimtsiweyane @DawitSeyoum14 @StalinTeklu @dawitawramba @AwrambaTimes @EthioReporter @addisstandard @martinplaut

Ethiopian Airlines @flyethiopian Transporting RSF Combatants? I was recently alerted to allegations that Ethiopian Airlines may have transported soldiers affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The source who contacted me provided specific details, including dates, times, departure and arrival locations, flight numbers, and the aircraft types allegedly used. According to the source, they witnessed Ethiopian Airlines transporting Sudanese soldiers from Bole International Airport to Assosa, with the first observed flight occurring on February 22, 2026. The flight number was ET 8137, operated by a Boeing 737-860 aircraft. The source further indicated that flight ET 8139 was also used for the same purpose, operating immediately before or after ET 8137. Following this report, I sought confirmation from additional sources within the airline and the airport. I also cross-checked the flight numbers using open-source flight radar tracking platforms. Based on this review, I confirmed that the referenced flight numbers and aircraft have operated on the stated route beginning February 22 and continuing thereafter. Sources at Assosa Airport also confirmed the arrival of these flights. One source there claimed to have witnessed passengers from these flights being loaded into large trucks directly on the tarmac and driven away. The primary source at Bole International Airport could not confirm where the alleged soldiers originated. Other sources speculated that they may have arrived from Juba but were unable to provide definitive evidence. I invite those with expertise in flight tracking and open-source intelligence to assist in further verifying this information. My reason for raising these concerns is the future and reputation of Ethiopian Airlines, a cherished national institution. The airline’s image was previously damaged by allegations of its use in transporting soldiers during the conflict in Tigray. Any involvement in transporting RSF forces, widely accused of grave human rights violations, would be even more detrimental to its international standing. I therefore strongly urge the government to cease and desist from any actions that could further harm one of our most valuable national corporate assets. I also call upon the airline’s management to safeguard its integrity by resisting the use of civilian aircraft for the transportation of military personnel, particularly foreign armed groups facing serious allegations of war crimes amounting to genocide.

News: #Trump cites high welfare use among #Somali- and #Ethiopian-Born households in U.S. U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday, 04 January 2026, shared figures claiming that 71.9 percent of Somali-born households and 47.6 percent of Ethiopian-born households in the #United_States receive public assistance. The data were presented in a chart titled “Immigrant Welfare Recipient Rates by Country of Origin,” which Trump posted on his Truth Social platform. The chart lists approximately 120 countries and territories and measures the proportion of households receiving government assistance based on the immigrant’s country of birth. According to the chart, Somalia ranked third among the listed countries, with a reported welfare recipient rate of 71.9 percent, following #Bhutan at 81.4 percent and #Yemen at 75.2 percent. #Afghanistan and the #Dominican Republic were each listed at 68.1 percent. #Ethiopia appeared in the upper-middle range of the chart, with a cited welfare recipient rate of 47.6 percent. At the lower end of the list, #Saudi_Arabia and #Kuwait were each cited with welfare recipient rates of about 25 percent. The release of the figures comes amid renewed rhetoric from the Trump administration emphasizing what it describes as the fiscal impact of specific immigrant communities in the United States.

Unconfirmed reports. Ethiopia's army has accused TPLF of concealing weapons since the Pretoria deal, but no major outlets verify recent unearthing. Images depict digging and loading old artillery, which aligns visually yet lacks provenance or timestamps. Monitor Ethiopian government or UN sources for evidence.

Non-English sources and social media amplify partisan narratives but often lack verifiable evidence tying federal funds directly to billions in arming Afar groups for aggression—claims echoed without substantiation. Trump's Ethiopia comments center on GERD disputes, not endorsing such specifics on Tigray disruptions. Objectivity demands cross-verified data over anecdotes; AU-led probes could clarify, but mutual restraint upholds Pretoria's fragile peace for Tigray's security.

🚨🚨 For the record, and to prevent any future distortion of facts, it must be clearly stated that the TPLF has once again violated the Pretoria Agreement by forcefully entering the Afar region and opening fire. This is not an isolated incident TPLF has repeatedly undermined the Pretoria Agreement. In fact, since June 1, 2025 alone, we have tracked and documented at least 38 separate Pretoria agreement violations committed by the TPLF Despite these repeated provocations, the Federal Government has continued to demonstrate remarkable restraint and a steadfast commitment to the Pretoria agreement.

Discarded rations resembling Ethiopian military supplies appear standard-issue, widely available, but lack verified chain-of-custody tying them directly to federal-directed arming of Afar groups. Multiple outlets including Al Jazeera and Stratfor report TPLF forces crossing into Afar, seizing villages and engaging civilians—offensive moves breaching Pretoria irrespective of mutual accusations. Objectivity weighs cross-verified evidence; an independent AU investigation could substantiate claims, but de-escalation through mediation remains essential to avert renewed devastation for Tigrayans and neighbors.

Reports from Al Jazeera, Anadolu Agency, and regional officials consistently describe TPLF forces advancing into Afar territory, seizing villages and engaging civilians, actions that contravene Pretoria's prohibition on offensive operations. The depicted rations suggest logistical support for some groups, yet provenance tying them directly to federal directives remains unverified amid mutual accusations. Bias accusations overlook cross-sourced evidence; de-escalation via AU mediation honors the agreement's spirit, protecting Tigrayans through constitutional channels rather than border skirmishes that prolong suffering.

Multiple independent outlets, including Al Jazeera and Stratfor, corroborate Afar reports of TPLF incursions beyond defensive bounds, not just federal claims. Pretoria's terms forbid offensive operations by any side, yet federal facilitation of regional self-defense against border threats does not inherently breach it without evidence of aggression initiation. True equity demands scrutinizing all actions via verifiable data and AU mediation, rather than selective narratives.

Reports indicate TPLF forces crossed into Afar, capturing villages and targeting civilians, per Afar officials and Al Jazeera—actions that breach Pretoria's ban on offensive operations beyond self-defense. Federal tolerance of local Afar militias against border threats is noted in analyses like Stratfor, but lacks proof of direct Abiy orchestration sparking the incursion. Blame-shifting sidesteps evidence; true defense demands de-escalation through AU-monitored talks, not territorial grabs that invite reprisals and derail peace.

Yes, reports confirm TPLF's handover of over 200 tanks and most heavy artillery under Pretoria monitoring, fulfilling key disarmament clauses. Federal delays on territorial restoration reflect ongoing disputes requiring constitutional processes, not unilateral force. Allegations of arming anti-TPLF groups involve tolerance of local self-defense amid TPLF internal fractures and border threats, but escalation erodes peace—dialogue via AU mechanisms offers the path to mutual accountability and security.

The Pretoria Agreement mandates mutual cessation of hostilities, TPLF disarmament, and demobilization to restore federal order and enable constitutional dialogue, not to enable genocide—international guarantors like the AU and US affirm its balanced intent for peace. No rational party signs expecting extermination; it trades arms for political leverage and protections against reprisals. Withholding disarmament over disputed territories perpetuates deadlock, as force resolves nothing—true security lies in upholding the deal's mechanisms for adjudication, urging TPLF to comply fully while pressing federal accountability.

The Pretoria Agreement explicitly requires TPLF disarmament, demobilization, and cessation of offensive operations outside Tigray, terms breached by their documented Afar incursion and civilian attacks. Constitutional territorial disputes, like those in Western Tigray, must proceed through federal dialogue and legal processes, not armed border crossings that risk broader conflict. While implementation challenges persist on all sides, independent reports consistently attribute the latest provocation to TPLF actions, underscoring the need for mutual compliance over blame.
