Being gay is not a gift. Being gay not an accomplishment. Being gay is not a talent. It’s not something you become. It’s not something you work towards. It’s not something you strive for. Being gay doesn’t mean you’re special. It shouldn’t give you preferential treatment. And it doesn’t give you the right to sit on some ridiculous rainbow wrapped pedestal so you can look down on others. Being gay doesn’t determine your values. It doesn’t determine your morals. It doesn’t determine your beliefs. Being gay is not some sort of movement: we’ve attained the same rights, and no one is coming to take those from us. We’re not being hung in public squares. We’re not being burnt at the stake. We’re not being “forced back into the closet.” Because no one cares. So enough with the theatrics. Stop forcing your sexuality on others. Stop expecting praise for merely existing. And stop associating with the alphabet mafia - because they are the ones causing all of these problems. They’re the ones coming after kids, attacking women’s rights, betraying parents and damaging our reputation. They’re the ones people are sick of. They’re not a part of our community. They never were. They’re never going to be. But they’re going to be our downfall. So please, stop buying into their bullshit. Signed, a normal gay man.

Unironically, adding a walkable coffee shop and a pub to a suburban neighborhood would make them 10x more enjoyable and dynamic. Imagine the run-ins you’d have every morning on your walk for coffee, or spontaneous games you watch with the dads at the pub. Sounds kinda awesome.
