In August 2023, an officers' union of UCO Bank sent a letter to its MD & CEO alleging that account holders in Dehradun were illegally enrolled in PMJJBY and PMSBY from the back-end by the head office. The zonal office had sent branches lists of eligible accounts with instructions to activate the schemes. Many branch managers refused to do so without customer consent - only for the head office to do it from the backend anyway. Report from @thewire_in

Dear @FinMinIndia @PMOIndia @DFS_India, Is banking now only about numbers? In Jaipur Zone of #UCOBank, branches are allegedly being pushed for 100 PMJJBY enrolments per day under pressure from higher authorities. The term being used is “eligible accounts”. But does that indirectly mean converting every non-enrolled customer into targets? This is how pressure culture and possible mis-selling begin. Employees are alleging fear, harassment, transfer pressure, and intimidation during the drive under the leadership of ZM #Rahul_Ranjan and Dy. ZM #Kaushik_Ghosh. I have screenshots and internal communications, but identities are being protected because employees fear retaliation. If @UCOBankOfficial officially clarifies that these communications are unauthorised, misinterpreted, or not reflective of ZO Jaipur BM group, I am ready to take this post down. Blame game is the easiest escape. At @TheOfficialSBI, whenever issues arise, the entire burden is pushed onto Branch Managers and cash handling staff. But where is the accountability of middle and senior management? Real reform in banking won’t come until responsibility sharing.

🚨 SBI Robbery in Surat: Serious Concern A daylight robbery has been reported at a @TheOfficialSBI branch in Varachha, Surat, where armed robbers allegedly looted around ₹50 lakh after threatening staff and customers at gunpoint. Reports suggest the gang disabled the alarm system and also snatched mobile phones to block any alert response. But this is not an isolated incident. This is reportedly the third bank loot involving PSU banks in April alone. This raises a serious question: How safe are PSU bank branches today, especially in terms of on-ground security and emergency response systems? Is this becoming a repeating pattern or a serious security gap that needs urgent attention? Open for clarification and official response.

🚨 A Dangerous Trend in Banking Culture: Viral Audio What started in one Bank is now spreading. From UPGB to Haryana Gramin Bank and if unchecked, it may soon reach other banks. Listen this viral audio carefully Reportedly from HGB- Nuh RM is heard saying: → Mention your last leave taken → Mention your last year’s growth → No need to take leave… manage it → We don’t have staff to approve leaves Now we are seeing something unheard of: → Leave requests being linked to performance → Employees asked to disclose leave history → Growth numbers being demanded before granting leave Since when did leave become a reward? → Leave is not a bonus. → Leave is not an incentive. → Leave is a basic right of an employee. What’s more concerning is the silence. @pnbindia is the sponsor bank of HGB A direct question to PNB: Is this the work culture being encouraged? Or is this happening with silent approval? Because silence at the top often becomes pressure at the bottom. Let’s be honest. This is not about discipline. This is about impressing higher authorities, showing “control” over staff to chase promotions, PLI, and visibility. But leadership is not about fear. Leadership is not about denying basic rights. Banking is already under pressure: • Staff shortage • High targets • Compliance burden • Public dealing stress And now employees must “justify” even their leave? This is not professionalism.
