It’s insane how costreamers like Caedrel / Dom are being scapegoated for the sins of Riot, the orgs, and the pros themselves. Caedrel and Dom have objectively done so much good for the scene.
People are flaming costreamers without acknowledging the fundamental truth that fans will always go where the personality is. That personality is currently missing from the official broadcasts and the pro players themselves. The official product is boring. As a counter example LR was insanely successful because people got to know and love each of the players as human beings with unique personalities through their individual streams. People want to feel connection. Nowadays most pros don't even stream?
I haven’t been a huge fan of a team since LR / TSM. There used to be passion / story behind the players and tweets and streams that gave a window into their lives outside of games. These days I never really watch pro play anymore unless a streamer were to costream it. The insights costreamers give are far more useful than what any caster gives because they are genuinely more knowledgeable about the game. I learned a lot from LS from LCK pro games back when he used to co stream and same goes for Dom on LPL games.
Instead of misdirecting hate at costreamers, fix the product. Bring back passion and personality 😤

Just so you can understand in 2023 I got banned for 230 days out of 365 ,I got like 8 manual bans (most of them for stuff I was saying only on my stream and not on voice chat), around 80 warnings and 50 verbal abuse bans. I legit could not play the game because every single day I was getting banned for some bullshit,most of the time for stuff I was saying only on stream or because I was getting spam reported by haters/stupid streamsnipers which I have proof but you decided to completly ignore all of my complaints that I made. If you think it's ok for all your admins to camp my stream until I say 1 bad word about Faceit so that you can manually ban me for 1 month every time I stream, then ok. Btw, I am still waiting for my 100.000 faceit points that you took away from me since I can't even access my account anymore. I spent over 500$ on Faceit Premium as well and promoted the platform on my social media with videos and shorts that got over 10 million views. There were hundreds of people who bought premium thanks to me, and I get nothing for that. What a great company, dude, doing free advertising while other streamers get benefits. How can I not get mad????? You banned Loba, the hand who fed you, who brought you over 500.000 new accounts and generated you millions of dollars from sponsors and subscriptions, and also who advertised your shitty FPL system. Across those 15 years, I’ve achieved the max rank in more genres of mainstream competitive videogames than anybody else in the world, ever.
MOBA’s, MMO PvP, auto-battlers, card games, strategy games, and literally every type of shooter ever: TacFps, arena shooters, hero shooters, battle royale.
Every genre of videogame I have ever touched, I have never not reached the top%.
I have never given up, I have never failed. No genre has been able to get the best of me.
Now, all of that is subject to change.
The two mainstream genre’s I have never touched, 0 seconds of play-time, happen to also be widely regarded as two of the most difficult of all.
Fighters, and RTS games.
Today begins my journey into fighters.

I don’t know how long this will take me. 0 seconds of playtime was no exaggeration, I literally have never played a fighting game in my life.
I don’t know how difficult this will be. Fighting games aren’t like other competitive games. There is nobody else to blame except for you. The ultimate skill diff.

He is getting way too much disrespect right now.
I know he has always had haters because of how directly he speaks and because of some of his actions over the years. But I also think qualifying for the Candidates through those Mickey Mouse events rubbed a lot of chess fans the wrong way, and he is paying the price for that now.
Honestly, I think if he had played Grand Swiss and a few more serious classical events in 2025, he would have come into this tournament in much better shape.
I also think part of the issue is motivation. It feels like he wanted to play the Candidates mainly because it gave him a path to the World Championship, not because he loves classical chess at this point. And when you already seem half-detached from classical, it is very hard to show up to the toughest event in the world and perform at your best.
Because he is having a bad event, everything he says is now being judged through the lens of losing. My feed is full of criticism. When Hikaru criticized the anti-cheating measures, I think he had a point. When he criticized his own team for missing 12...0-0, I think he had a point there, too. But once a player is losing, people stop listening to the argument and start attacking the person. That is exactly what is happening here.
I am not even a big Hikaru fan. But people should remember who he is.
He is a legendary player. His online chess over the last 20 years is unmatched. In classical chess, he crossed 2800 twice. Only 16 players in history have ever reached that level, and not all of them made it back after dropping below it. Hikaru did. Around 2020, when he became more of a streamer, a lot of people stopped taking him seriously as a top player. Then he came back in 2022 and proved again that he is exceptional.
And beyond that, his work as a streamer has been huge for chess. He brought a massive number of new people into the game. He has also consistently brought attention to issues inside the chess world and forced conversations that others would rather avoid.
You do not have to like Hikaru. I am not saying that. But the amount of disrespect he gets is absurd.
He is one of the most important chess figures of his era.
