Glen, the war in Iran has cost $25 billion. There have been a few thousand casualties, and if Iran is prevented from acquiring a nuclear weapon, that would be a significant boon to world peace. On the other hand, the Ukraine war had cost, just the US, $125 billion. That's 5 times as much and it is no closer to a resolution. In fact, it is likely father away than Iran is. Other than the $125 billion from the US, there is almost equally that amount from other countries. A quarter trillion dollars, at least. 10 times the cost an over a million casualties. Iran is, arguably, a greater threat to the world than Russia. The rulers in Russia don't think being martyred is a good idea. Yet you are obsessed with Iran. Ukraine? Did I just heat you yawn?

I feel so disgusted with the generational vibe that told us that having kids wasn’t a priority and that being a mom was kind of a lesser path. Dealing right now with someone close to me who completely missed the life she should have had, which would have made her very happy— as a mom of a bunch of kids. She believed the social justice messages and made other choices. Materialistic superficial choices btw. She’s traveled extensively and has fancy appliances and a nice (huge, empty) house — and a bunch of social justice bona fides. She was misled. This isn’t someone who was always a bit salty and never wanted kids. She wanted them, but it seemed lame and selfish and not as important as her SJW pursuits. (Which amounted to what? Nothing. The whole thing was a vibe.) I have the same life advice.

It's a 3-pronged attack on having children. You covered SJW crusader & I'd lump environmentalism/degrowth in with that. Also you implied the 2nd prong, which is Girlboss Feminism/Careerism as high-status vs low-status motherhood/SAHM. But the third, that affects men & women is the preservation of optionality & delay of assuming responsibility. People used to get married young & grow together. But that became gauche with adults urging their kids to take longer to "find themselves" or "get more established" before committing to anything important. The counter culture movement of the 60s and 70s was really a temper tantrum by teenagers that didn't want to grow up. They may have ultimately become yuppies themselves but they never stopped believing the message & really brought it to fruition with their kids & grandkids. It's a very short step from not committing "too young" to not committing to anything ever.
