The problem is the "under the authority of" language has thus far not been ruled to apply to transfers to private citizens. The 8th Circuit reiterated that just this week, and obviously the antigun 4th Circuit won't break that pattern. You can certainly disagree with those rulings, but they exist. I think a modified bill that focused much more on a state militia would have a stronger argument. Do a "muster" every year or two, maybe some training. Then you get way closer to believably saying you are possessing a machinegun "under the authority of" the state government - as a member of its citizen militia! I like the creativity though! Lord knows the antigunners never stop trying stuff, we should too.

In light of the SAVE Act, Democrats should require every gun owner to register and complete a federal background check that requires either a passport or a birth certificate. Unless Republicans think this is an undue burden on a Constitutionally protected right.

70% of working-age adults with no disabilities who receive SNAP benefits do WORK & have a job. The issue is do all these companies making record profits provide a livable fucking wage?
