Congratulations to @DanielLurie on becoming the next Mayor of San Francisco! May the wind be at your back as you lead our city forward. I also want to extend heartfelt gratitude to all the candidates in this race. Running for office requires courage; it means opening yourself up to public criticism, scrutiny, and all the challenges of today’s social media landscape. But it also brings moments of genuine connection, support, and gratitude from people across our community—and offers the chance to see the world through a different lens. To everyone who supported my campaign and to each candidate who put their heart into this race, thank you. Your commitment and passion make San Francisco a better place. @SFMayorKeith @dylanhs @SFmayor2025 @nelsonmeix @Ellen4SFMayor John Soderstrom @MayorFlynnSF @Robertsonsf2024 @LondonBreed @AaronPeskin @Ahsha_Safai @MarkFarrellSF

I’m thrilled to introduce the co-chairs who will guide our transition and lay the foundation for change in San Francisco.      •    Sam Altman: CEO of OpenAI     •    Joanne Hayes-White: San Francisco Fire Chief (Ret.)     •    José Quiñonez: CEO of Mission Asset Fund     •    Ned Segal: Business Executive and Campaign Co-Chair     •    Michael Tubbs: Former Stockton Mayor     •    Nancy Tung: San Francisco Democratic Party Chair     •    Paul Yep: San Francisco Police Commander (Ret.) We each share a commitment to accountability, service, and change. These leaders will provide guidance as we move forward, building a government that serves all San Franciscans.

The real test will be if Police will make arrests and DA's will actually prosecute. I know you were a fan of Jenkins, but my experience with her office hasn't been amazing. A victim of a crime that wasn't impacted by Prop 47, and the perpetrator with a dozen priors was offered probation because the 2nd da didn't want to proceed to trial. The first one was ready to go then she got reassigned and the 2nd apparently was uninterested in prosecuting a repeat offender even with hours of clear video footage in what the original ada referred to as a "slam dunk" case. Laws asking our law enforcement folks to do more are meaningless without action. Some of this action was possible before and we didn't get it. I'm not sure the voters will get to enjoy the fruit they hoped to sew with Prop 36 passing.

Here is a CA SOS map of Prop 36 voting results (to reform Prop 47)👇. Gv Newsom, Sen Padilla & MANY Sacramento leaders like Scott Wiener were against Prop 36--while Harris, Pelosi, Sen Butler & Rep. Schiff were all silent. Representation? Um, no. @KevinKileyCA @TheVOSF

MUNI has a spending problem. For every dollar they ear they spend $1.05 This is true regardless of how much they generate. The generate another $100M they'll find a way to spend $105M giving them more money seems to only exacerbate the problem. They might do better if they generate $0 :)

SoMa is in a really bad state and instead of pandering to a band of extremists, we must save the neighborhoods from inactive leaders, especially with the last two years of inaction. @mattdorsey is a great guy personally, but this is an L Endorsement.

Thank you @mattdorsey! "Danny Sauter is my #1 pick for D3 Supervisor because he is the trusted partner on public safety I need. Danny will lead on efforts to hire more police officers and take our drug crisis seriously by arresting drug dealers and expanding recovery programs.”

Daniel gets a say in who our first "Inspector General" is, that's probably a good thing. Better than if Peskin got to choose that person. E will get some movement on reducing our commissions, but who knows if that will ever bear fruit. He does have the advantage of not being beholden to the vestiges of Willie Brown's infrastructure. From his Press Conference, he seemed to indicate he's going to be searching for the best people which I took to mean "new people"

Congratulations to Daniel Lurie. He has enough independence from the Machine (he doesn't need this job) to be able to make difficult but necessary, game-changing decisions and get @SFGov under managerial control. Support the change. Let's GO! @DanielLurie

Prop D didn't pass so Lurie can't just let Scott go. I don't remember, but I think only 1 commission seat changes in 2025. So he may face some of the same challenges. It's also entirely possible that the Chief was doing the job Breed expected of him and with a new boss comes a new mandate..

It's not unheard of for a failed president to achieve success back at a more local office. Mitt Romney is a great example. Not everyone goes by way of the Gore. She could potentially get re-elected as a State Senator. but she'd have to steal back Alex seat. I'm not sure people are that pleased with Rob Bonta so I could see her return to that seat, but I think she'd see it as a demotion relative to VP. Senate is Respectable.

@conorj_SF Um.. London breed did all kinds of stunts. why was it ok for "bang bang" breed, but not the new mayor? I was hoping the hypocrisy would end after the election, but seems you've renewed your subscription.

I disagree slightly. I think the pandemic wasn't what cost her the job. It was the corruption partly, bust mostly was the post-pandemic .. She had nearly a full 4 year term after the pandemic to do the job and she just didn't get it done. That was the problem. We gave her an additional year and she waited until August to start to do the job.

@LondonBreed Pandemic response cost you the job. ~2 year lockdown, schools closed, mask and vax mandates (which you ignored when it suited you), plus rampant crime and Dreamkeeper shenanigans all meant one result. Hopefully you'll take time to reflect on this in quiet moments.

Being Mayor of San Francisco has been the greatest honor of my lifetime. I’m beyond grateful to our residents for the opportunity to serve the City that raised me. When I first took office in the middle of the night, back in 2017 when Mayor Ed Lee passed, I didn’t know what lay ahead. But I answered the call and always gave San Francisco and its people my heart and soul. At the end of the day, this job is bigger than any one person and what matters is that we keep moving this City forward. Today, I called Daniel Lurie and congratulated him on his victory in this election. Over the coming weeks, my staff and I will work to ensure a smooth transition as he takes on the honor of serving as Mayor of San Francisco. I know we are both committed to improving this City we love. I have always worked to be a Mayor for all San Franciscans. I want to thank all of the City staff who have worked tirelessly to improve this City for the last six years. I am the Mayor – but you all are doing the hard work every day and the City is on the rise. Over the coming weeks, I plan to reflect on all the progress we’ve made. But today, I am proud that we have truly accomplished so much and my heart is filled with gratitude. During my final two months as your Mayor, I will continue to lead this City as I have from Day One – as San Francisco’s biggest champion. Thank you.

Bummed @MarkFarrellSF wasn’t elected but thrilled Peskin wasn’t. Eager to see what @DanielLurie does (even though his association with Max Szabo is gross). Clear out the Fenty Dealers Clear out the junkie encampments Make it easier for small businesses to open/thrive

@SFMayorKeith Interesting data. I'd love to see the disposition of rank votes (e.g., how many people who ranked Ahsha Safai first but moved to Peskin or Ellen Lee Zhou when he was eliminated). The movement is going to be curious.

@Scott_Wiener Just to be clear. The Trump administration doesn't take office until after the California Legislature reconvenes in January. I'm unclear what makes this a budgetary emergency. This is just grandstanding and it is unnecessary and unhelpful.
