@KutterIsKing US fans should show up but we have 162 game seasons here with playoffs that are the showcase of baseball I love the WBC it's amazing. It's baseball under different circumstances and there's nothing wrong with that it's showcases baseball itself

@INTLBaseball24 It would be silly and filled with logistical issues. The current start time is perfect, acting like a beam of sunlight after the long winter, there are no other sports in that window and it’s a tasty appetizer to fire people up for opening day. There is no reason to change it

IMO, a big reason MLB would explore a mid season WBC is to be able to hold the event in places like Yankee stadium that has a significantly higher capacity than Loan Depot. A PR/DR pool play game would be packed. Same with USA/Mexico at Dodger Stadium

Nobody wants to see a team eliminated in one-game elimination with their fifth starter on the mound.

Biggest takeaways from attending the World Baseball Classic: 1. Baseball is hotter than it's been in a LONG time. 2. Winning a WBC Championship means more to most of these players than winning a World Series. 3. The Tournament 100% needs to be played in the summertime.

Baseball's unique situation regarding starting pitching is what sets it apart. Between the pitching impact and the sheer luck involved in batted ball outcomes, it just cannot be compared to other sports. In baseball, you basically have 5 different "teams" wearing 1 uniform. Now, if pitchers could throw 100 pitches every day, that would be amazing. Imagine having to face Paul Skenes every single game in a 7 game series LOL. Or Dwight Gooden. Or Sandy Koufax. Or Pedro Martinez... I can go on forever. it would be a completely different sport.

@HalToHell Soccer is just as random in single elimination, which basically only exists in international competitions and some cup competitions, yet no soccer fan whines about it. Single elimination adds tension and drama, it makes country vs. country baseball so much more high-stakes

Certain people will look at this and say the lineup with first ballot Hall of Famers simply isn’t good enough instead of admitting that baseball, in small samples, is incredibly random

@brycerogers1033 @YankeeWRLD Same thing can happen in any sport. Judge had 4 at-bats to tip the odds in his favor. At the soccer World Cup, an elite player might not even get 3 scoring chances but will strike on one of them. Single elimination is a feature of international sports, not a bug

@YankeeWRLD Game was tied 2-2 at bottom 8th inning. A Judge homer, make this stat 9 for 49 and possibly wins the game. Baseball is the only major sport that should be decided over a series of games. Never just one game.

There is no excuse for a lineup as talented as Team USA’s to be this horrible. Ridiculous

It's not apples-to-apples, but the difference between how Americans reacted to losing the World Baseball Classic and how Canadians reacted to losing the Gold Medal hockey game is striking. Little to no whining. No claiming to be the better team. Just congratulating Venezuelans.

@djwhatley @HalToHell Says who? The World Series aren't the blueprint for all of baseball. MLB had single elim Wild Card games. NBC world series has always had single/double elimination. Why should international baseball copy the WS? A game is a game, you should be able to get it done in 27 at-bats.

@HalToHell I overheard someone at the bar last night saying like, "the game is today; you win or lose today, and that's it." seemingly comparing it favorably to football and other sports, and like.. that's just not how baseball works really.
