@MLBPA @Brent_Rooker25 I keep seeing these very vague pushbacks on the salary cap, but literally nothing of substance being offered by MLBPA or its player reps.

I read this article twice to try to understand how non-monogamy could possibly be a childcare hack, and afaict the answer is "if you let your husband have sex with other people, he'll have to let you have sex with other people, which means he'll agree to watch the kids sometimes"
Leah Libresco Sargeant@LeahLibresco

Begging people to remember you can have *friends* "For these moms, non-monogamy seems to offer more than just a way to reclaim their libido. Could it also be the secret to raising kids without completely resenting one’s husband?" thecut.com/article/non-mo…

@AlTheBoss03 Yet he never won anything and was injured for most of the second half of his career. That always needs to be included in any retrospective of Griffey.

Name an MLB prospect who lived up to every bit of the hype. No shortcuts. No excuses. Just greatness. I’ll start: Ken Griffey Jr.. The Kid didn’t just meet expectations—he blew past them. 630 HRs, effortless swing, and a first-ballot Hall of Fame career. Your turn .

It's easy to reduce Band Of Horses to "The Funeral" or write them off as weak-sauce blog-rock from a time when indie was swerving toward the masses. But revisiting their debut 20 years later, I was stunned by how many great songs they strung together. 🐎 stereogum.com/2492223/everyt…

@LenardW84381897 @thats_bb_suzyn The fact that you all want Cal Raleigh, or any other player on Team US, to be held to the same standards and expectations as Aaron Judge, is funny.

Idk why gas prices are so culturally salient in america. You could drive an hour a day and it probably comes to less than $3k/year. Is it because they put the price on billboards along the road?

@metaplexmovies Seems to go against the grain but I thought it was pretty outdated and ridiculous. Some good stuff in there and certainly not bad for the time, but it’s basically like if The Wire was made inside a nu-metal music video (derogatory).

The Padres told Team USA that Mason Miller could only pitch in a save situation. The Yankees told Team USA that David Bednar was unavailable. The Cubs told Venezuela that Daniel Palencia could only pitch in a save situation. There were other pitchers Venezuela didn’t have at their disposal because their MLB teams said they were unavailable. As much fun and as exciting as the WBC was this is exactly why it’ll always be a flawed tournament.

It’s pretty crazy that we’re about to enter a season where the Mariners are projected to be as good as any American League team, and the heavily MLB focused The Athletic is still choosing not to cover them with any regularity.

But what about the WBC was indicative of it not being a crapshoot? Eduardo Rodriguez and his 5.02 ERA throwing 4.1 IP of no run baseball against one of the greatest lineups you can possibly assemble is legitimately exactly representative of that😂 What's funny is if this super team was a hypothetical Cashman roster, 50% of the fanbase would call for Cash to get fired and say the roster construction was faulty because they can't hit when it mattered. I don't understand why people hate hearing how faulty and silly baseball is in small sample sizes. The WBC was 7 games. Sometimes teams' playoff schedules only see 3-5 days. If you diced up the 162 game season into 7 game windows, you'd find maybe the entire player base of MLB at the top of OPS rankings in at least one of those windows.
Chris@Chris_NYY28

The worst part of the World Baseball Classic is Team USA's complete inability to score runs is feeding into the "its a crapshoot" theory. The worst.

@HalToHell Yeah, last year the Pirates went 4-2 against the Dodgers. I kind discount anything people say about baseball that don't first acknowledge it is a high variance sport.

Maybe it’s just me but I think you should want a player who hits “125 mph” 10 times out of 10 over a player who strikes out once every 30 ABs.

@SouthernKeeks Don't get me wrong. Your last line in the post is legit. And I don't hold any special feelings one way or the other for Miller. But. Saying "it's refreshing to see someone in the admin have *some* principle beyond blind allegiance" seems to essentially endorse your last line.

It's amazing to see TDS in action like this. Tim praises Joe Kent not because Kent is a good guy (because he's not), but because he opposes Trump now. If your only guiding principle is PRO or ANTI Trump, you're an actual stupid person.
Tim Miller@Timodc

Have talked a lot of shit about Joe Kent over the years (deserved) and can't speak to all of his motivations here but I gotta say its pretty refreshing to see that someone in the administration has a red line on something.
