Award winning 17th Century restaurant. Buggered by Brexit, survived Covid, currently closed by energy costs, inflation and complete Govt. inaction.

Am going to delete this account. I spend a lot of time supporting hospitality businesses that are being failed by lack of UK govt support as well as the everyone who exposes the disastrous Brexit. I feel totally powerless. Sorry. Baz

Last week I led a debate in Parliament on the staffing crisis in Britain's hospitality and tourism industry. If this is not addressed as a matter of urgency, then we will see a catastrophic collapse of hundreds of businesses, causing immense hardship and heartbreak for many.

Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice UK
Earlier @38degrees flew over the @imacelebrity camp with a message for @MattHancock from us. He isn't a 'celebrity', he's the former health secretary who oversaw the UK having one of the highest death tolls in the world from Covid-19 whilst breaking his own lockdown rules. 1/4

@emersonpje I admire your courage and determination. I was at this point 6 months ago and decided as you have to keep going for so many reasons, possibly other than yourself. But it just kept getting worse despite the additional personal loans I took out to keep business afloat. Beware.

Anxiety levels at DEFCON1 and keeps me awake at night Knock on effect to our supply chains, our staff & our customers is unthinkable. This is real and will happen to so many hard working people I must fight and do all I can to keep my business viable I have nothing without it!

The hospitality industry, including pubs, restaurants and cafes and accommodation such as hotels has been one of the hardest hit by rising energy costs. What are the potential consequences for customers, workers and bosses? ➡️ ow.ly/HMtH50LCaKz

It's a white bread cheese sandwich, hula hoops and choc digestives kind of day. No filtered photo required. Any other peak-glum comfort food combo suggestions?

This message needs to be repeated loudly and often. Brexit is ONE OF the causes of the pain that will be felt by everyone as austerity bites. To turn things around, it will be necessary (but not sufficient) to join the single market and customs union. We need to face reality.
Lizzy Burden@lizzzburden

“Without Brexit, we wouldn’t be talking about austerity this week,” Michael Saunders tells me in his first on-air interview since leaving the Bank of England’s monetary policy committee. Says it’s not just the City of London but the whole UK economy that’s been damaged by Brexit

“Investing in health would be good for the economy, but it’s also necessary if we’re to end avoidable pain, suffering, and premature deaths. I’d like to be reassured that this is high on our government’s agenda” @HelenRSalisbury heartfelt words from the frontline. @LaylaMoran

Today, I spoke to a local Bath business owner Darren at the #HospoDemo. Brexit has put the workforce in crisis - 1/3 of hospitality businesses could go bust by the new year. There must be an overseas hospitality worker visa scheme now to protect the industry from collapse.

#matthancock should face a trial in court of law, not a self serving fake TV trial where he’s congratulated for collecting stars as if he’s in Boy Scouts camp. #ImACeleb

Short 🧵 on Matt Hancock declaring on I'm a Celebrity that he is now simply seeking "forgiveness". I write this as someone whose 47-year-old wife, terminally ill, died in a hospice the day after testing positive for Covid, in December 2020. 1/n
