Award winning 17th Century restaurant. Buggered by Brexit, survived Covid, currently closed by energy costs, inflation and complete Govt. inaction.

Earlier @38degrees flew over the @imacelebrity camp with a message for @MattHancock from us.
He isn't a 'celebrity', he's the former health secretary who oversaw the UK having one of the highest death tolls in the world from Covid-19 whilst breaking his own lockdown rules.

@emersonpje I admire your courage and determination. I was at this point 6 months ago and decided as you have to keep going for so many reasons, possibly other than yourself. But it just kept getting worse despite the additional personal loans I took out to keep business afloat. Beware.

The hospitality industry, including pubs, restaurants and cafes and accommodation such as hotels has been one of the hardest hit by rising energy costs. What are the potential consequences for customers, workers and bosses? ➡️ ow.ly/HMtH50LCaKz

This message needs to be repeated loudly and often. Brexit is ONE OF the causes of the pain that will be felt by everyone as austerity bites. To turn things around, it will be necessary (but not sufficient) to join the single market and customs union. We need to face reality.

“Without Brexit, we wouldn’t be talking about austerity this week,” Michael Saunders tells me in his first on-air interview since leaving the Bank of England’s monetary policy committee. Says it’s not just the City of London but the whole UK economy that’s been damaged by Brexit
English

“Investing in health would be good for the economy, but it’s also necessary if we’re to end avoidable pain, suffering, and premature deaths. I’d like to be reassured that this is high on our government’s agenda” @HelenRSalisbury heartfelt words from the frontline. @LaylaMoran

Whilst the SNP can’t even build a ferry that floats, @RishiSunak and the UK Government have announced five new ships worth over £4 billion will be built on the Clyde securing more than 4,000 jobs 🇬🇧🏴

Today, I spoke to a local Bath business owner Darren at the #HospoDemo.
Brexit has put the workforce in crisis - 1/3 of hospitality businesses could go bust by the new year.
There must be an overseas hospitality worker visa scheme now to protect the industry from collapse.
