DEMONETIZED FOR 26 DAYS - MY YOUTUBE HORROR STORY (please watch the attached video) My channel “Monumental” was demonetized on April 12 for “inauthentic content,” and YouTube is now withholding over $8,000 in AdSense revenue from me. This is money that I earned through months of work, enormous effort, and thousands of dollars of my own personal investment into all of the different subscriptions and tools required to make the sort of videos that I create. After weeks of trying to contact YouTube to get answers, I’ve been met with either complete silence or automated systems offering generic responses that simply re-state YouTube’s vague and cryptic policies. And I’m not alone. Countless other AUTHENTIC and “high-effort” creators have been damaged by this wave of erroneous demonetizations. And the only ones who actually succeed in getting meaningful, HUMAN help are those who manage to gain enough visibility here on X. So now, for creators who have spent years building on YouTube, the entire fate of their channels depends on getting views on X. That is insane. I have spent 2 years investing countless hours and finances into building this channel, which now has over 140k subscribers and an audience that loves my content and looks forward to every video. I am a husband and father of 4 kids, and we have come to rely on this channel for our income. In a single moment, without any warning and with no meaningful explanation, it was all taken away. The reason? YouTube is essentially claiming that my content is mass-produced, low-effort slop… when in reality, I spend weeks creating each video and am always striving to post high-quality, engaging content. I’ve been creating on YouTube for 20+ years and run multiple channels which I will link to below. One channel is Great Light Studios, where I have interviewed former cult members and helped people escape and heal from high-demand organizations since 2018. These other channels have no relation to my demonetized channel “Monumental,” but now, due to the unfair demonetization of this one, YouTube tells me that all of them are at risk of demonetization. On Monumental, I spend weeks (sometimes months) creating each video. I typically research and gather information over the course of several days while writing original stories and providing new educational and narrative value in every project. Like any other TV show, brand, or YouTube channel in history, I obviously have similarities in thumbnails and format between videos… but this is branding! It's also something I feel YouTube has encouraged creators to do for years! But now we are being punished for it. YouTube's inauthentic content policy refers to content that is mass-produced, highly repetitive or template based. But my videos vary widely in pacing, structure, style, and even length. Some of my videos are 6-minute creative edits, others are 1.5-hour fan-fiction films, and others are 30-minute documentary/analysis videos. So how can my content be labeled as mass-produced? 👉 On my channel, each video features different characters, different information, and original stories. 👉 I use AI visuals and voiceover, but both are extensively edited and enhanced with additional effects, overlays, transitions, text, and sound design. I often spend entire weeks editing a 3-4 minute sequence. 👉 I’m also a stock-footage filmmaker and often incorporate footage and visual elements that I have personally filmed into my projects. 👉 I record some of my own sound effects that are layered into my productions. 👉 I compose original cinematic music for certain projects. This video that I'm posting here provides screenshots, videos, and other material demonstrating that my content is not low-effort slop, but original and creative productions in which I am involved throughout every step of the creative process. I have poured my heart and soul into this channel for 2 years. At the same time YouTube has allowed every video to pass their review system, monetized each one, and even sent me my silver play button when I passed 100k subscribers. So they essentially have been patting me on the back, condoning of the content I'm creating for years, and encouraging me to keep doing what I'm doing... then suddenly, without any warning, they decide it's not ok and take it all away. This is not right. This is not fair. This is not ethical. For several weeks now, I have been trying to get a human review, with no success. @TeamYouTube You have sent me DMs and told me that I already have an open case and need to continue my conversation with support through email. Here’s the problem with that: They are not responding to me. I have emailed them multiple times, asking questions and trying to get clarity, and they simply are not responding. It has been 7 days since I last heard from them. The responses they initially gave me were generic and “inauthentic.” I’m seeking a human review and a thorough, meaningful look at my channel. However, they have only responded by sending generic guidelines and re-stating policies that I am confident I am not violating. They are not offering me the meaningful help that I need, and so I am reaching out to you here, hoping that YOU can. I can only assume that my channel was demonetized due to automated systems that simply do not understand my channel or the way I am using AI. I believe that if a human took just a couple of minutes to look, they would recognize that I am not violating this policy. Dear @TeamYouTube , It’s been 34 days since my channel was falsely demonetized. As I proved in my previous post, my channel does not violate any YouTube guidelines, and I fully follow YouTube’s TOS. Under the YouTube Partner Program policies, there is a policy called “inauthentic content,” which I have already read, understood, and checked every video to see if it violates the YouTube Partner Program policies. It does not violate them at all, as my videos contain: 1- Clear editing and transformations 2- Storytelling with meaningful value in every video, also provided in videos description 3- Creative effort 4- My own creative touch in the overlays and endings of every video all of which are qualities YouTube looks for in channels. And my channel is one of those channels, as there is nothing inauthentic about it at all. From creating characters from scratch, making emotes, and moving characters, to recording a story that I created myself, writing scripts completely by myself, and adding voices. And value to the story I completely understand the policies, and I would really appreciate another review of my channel, as I am 100% sure that it follows the YouTube Partner Program policies. Even though I deleted over 100 videos and reformatted my entire channel to be documentary style videos and even used my voice on most of my videos and did stories about my personal family that were true documentary stories I still got rejected after 90 days. Here it is 120 Days and YouTube refuses to watch my video appeal even though in the email that I received said that I could appeal the decision within 21 days and I only have four days left of the 21 days. I'm not asking for a lot I'm just asking for a human to review my video appeal that shows that I completely transformed the channel and that it is 100% authentic and it is not reused content and is transformative with my commentary. Here's the deal even if you do everything that you tube says you still have no transparency and you can lose all of your hard work. YouTube is not safe. I loved making videos but unfortunately I cannot do it for free when I was trying to make a business out of it. Gaming YouTuber ZERO wasn't even spared, with his side channels demonetized. It's not just horror creators. And in this video, ZERO calls them out for the same issue, that they aren't even reviewing the actual appeals. So, how is this legal? This is absolute misrepresentation. YouTube is claiming they are providing a service, when they are in fact not. I would argue they have also destroyed the tacit agreement we had between our parties, which is that we would produce content for release on their platform in exchange for compensation. Check out ZERO's explanation here: youtube.com/watch?v=W-eWCI… The fact that YouTube continues to display ads and profit from content on ours and other channels that have been demonetized in error for "inauthentic content," lining their pockets while our many viewers continue to watch the material, is proof they are not concerned about the advertisers' opinions on AI slop and actual "inauthentic content." If they were, the demonetized channels would have their content forcibly unlisted or privatized, so it cannot be viewed nor monetized. But that's not what is happening. The result of this, whether YT did it on purpose and intended it or not, is that they keep a WHOLE LOT of money that didn't rightfully belong to them over the 90 days we are waiting to "reapply" and they get to then report these ill-gotten gains on their quarterly income reports to stockholders. Whether this was the intention or not, it is the result. Let that sink in. And to date, YouTube hasn't acknowledged this error or that they will roll it back and fix it. People are losing their livelihoods over this, their homes, and their ability to provide for their staff and families. And not a peep from YouTube. This is not just rude; it's unconscionable. And where are the BIG YouTubers on this? The unaffected ones covering recent events and tech news? Why the radio silence and crickets? Who with resources and time is going to help the little guys? This is not just the horror community. This has to stop.
