We are happy to share this systematic review on risk factors for hypersensitivity to visual motion. We found strong evidence for concussion, vestibular disorders, Parkinson’s disease, and migraine being associated with altered visual motion processing. link.springer.com/article/10.100…

Cortical lesions and electrical stimulation sites associated with vertigo map to a common functional network highlighting the insula. Honored to be part of this journey into the terra incognita of vestibular circuits spearheaded by Yanran Li @foxmdphd academic.oup.com/braincomms/adv…

Are you interested in the basal ganglia and electrophysiology in vivo? The newly started Ketzef laboratory in Karolinska Institutet has an open position for a postdoctoral fellow in neural circuits in the basal ganglia underlying sensorimotor function!! ki.varbi.com/en/what:job/jo…

And what a journey it has been! What started as an investigation into idiopathic dizziness led us looking for answers to gaze-stabilization in the lamprey brainstem! Such a fun project, and I look forward to many more years of making things spin!

From a discussion in a Chinese restaurant to a project that I've really enjoyed, and that now is finally out! Very proud of this study with @WibbleTobias! nature.com/articles/s4146… @cinbio_uvigo @uvigo @NatureComms

My first popular-science book ‘Making Sense of the Senses’ is out! Published by @worldscientific and inspired by all my fantastic colleagues at @karolinskainst. I had a lot of fun putting together this celebration of biological diversity! #t=aboutBook" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">worldscientific.com/worldscibooks/…

Preparing to present our poster on eye movement control at #FENS2022! Please stop by at #600 if you want to talk about human and lamprey gaze stabilization, or what it can tell us about clinical vertigo!

Happy to share our paper on sensorimotor interactions in dorsolateral striatum. How is sensory processing shaped by movement? How does dopamine fit in? That and more in this study by @RobertodelaTor & Maya Ketzef. Pls send us your thoughts and comments. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Birds 🦆 have a middle ear organ (paratympanic organ) that uses hair cells to sense barometric pressure, is mediated by facial nerve, and projects to vestibular nuclei. Similar in sharks/fish. Mammals have rudimentary forms. Cause of atmospheric pressure vertigo? #yourinnerfish

Does the vestibular efferent system modulate vestibular sensory feedback for walking? Check it out in our new article where we record directly from vestibular afferents in walking primates! doi.org/10.1038/s41467…

Very happy to see our latest article published in @ARVOiovs, showing how the torsional OKR varies based on a viewer’s level of attention and alertness. To allude to the title, I’d say ocular torsion deserves more attention in the world of eye tracking! iovs.arvojournals.org/article.aspx?a…
