So Paramount can do the exact same thing $GME is doing with EBAY, to an even bigger scale I'll add, and it gets a total pass? But when it's GameStop, it's simply unfathomable for the mainstream media to comprehend.

@the_tong_song @ericjackson You cannot buy options that raise in value when you offer to buy the house or car. And if the offer to buy the car falls through you then sell the options to collect a profit.

@ryanmauro The huge push on the "Multipolar World" talking point is quite thought provoking. Always framed as tomorrows certain reality when in reality it's just another "USA was never great" Obamaism. Useful to weed out the gullible and the shills.

Why is General Flynn promoting the idea of a "Multipolar World?" The world is moving towards a 21st American Century, not a Multipolar World. Using the term, largely popularized by Russian influence agent Alexander Dugin, usually coincides with embracing other Seditionist-Right narratives like Israel being behind Charlie Kirk's martyrdom. Flynn has dabbled in anti-Israel conspiracy theories since at least 2023.
Scott McMahan@BiggerTruth

Here comes @GenFlynn announcing “A Night of Intrigue,” an event featuring the retired general and over 50 foreign ambassadors, to discuss the benefits of the MULTIPOLAR WORLD ORDER. I look forward to tracking which congressmen attend the event. Will it be the same ones who gave members of the Russian Duma an unannounced and unsupervised tour of @SpeakerJohnson’s office suite on a Friday night when he wasn’t there (with @tylerbowyer’s help)? In the Flynn network’s own words, from a marketing email promoting the event: “As our world continues to evolve into a multipolar landscape, understanding global power dynamics and the far-reaching consequences of international conflict has never been more important.” “We find ourselves at a pivotal moment in American history, underscoring the urgent need to create meaningful opportunities for dialogue, collaboration, and strategic partnership among nations that share common interests and values.” “This will not be a typical Washington dinner. Instead, it is an immersive evening designed to provide direct engagement with ambassadors and ministers representing more than 50 countries, Members of the United States Congress, and leading figures from government, the military, and industry—all within a relaxed and distinguished setting.” @DAGToddBlanche @FBIDirectorKash @AlexisWilkins @dbongino

The Critical Spec That is Not Reported Roughly half of electronic devices slowly drain their batteries while they are turned off. For now, the only way to learn "Standby battery life" is to check the reviews and hope you get lucky. The good news: Based on my own, limited observations, more and more devices now have standby battery life measured in years. Good job, manufacturers. One standout story: Early AGM Rattler thermal sights drained their batteries in a matter of weeks, while turned off. AGM fixed that problem with a firmware update. For one glorious moment, it felt like the old days, when a software update was good news.

@RosenvoldGeo 3.5% - Only when you include Ukraine as “defense”… And certainly not when Trump talked about it the first time in 2017, when everyone went “how dare he!” as if they hoped to out-Greta Greta. And this is the goldfish-level brains reporting and contextualizing the news… Sad!

For the record: In 2026, the Denmark will spend 3.5% of GDP on defense (US is at 3.3%). We understood Trump’s message on military spending and almost every European country has acted on it extremely rapidly. Btw - we can still afford free health care and a budget surplus even with 3.5% defense spending. So no - we don’t have those things because we were spending less on defense. We have them because we pay much higher taxes.
Andreas Steno Larsen@AndreasSteno

I get that many Americans don’t want to de facto pay for NATO anymore. I get it, I understand that the US paid more than others for a long time. It is all very well understood. We can take care of ourselves. It is ok. You don’t need to lecture us day in and day out about it.

The real problem is when you’re bumping along on an imperfect road and have to hit small touch targets or do gestures with your arm at full extension. It’s just inherently way more difficult to use reliably than a non-touch-sensitive (“normal”) button or knob, and claiming otherwise is disingenuous. Some cars have a place to rest your palm, which makes operation easier, but I’m not convinced this is intentional.

Mercedes-Benz engineers told me the reason for this. When they do consumer research, most people like tactile things: buttons, knobs, sliders, and stuff like that. They like the tactile experience. The problem is, if you stop there, you make mistakes. The world is moving toward an autonomous vehicle future where everything is done automatically with screens. The consumer can't tell you about that world because they haven't thought about it or been presented with it yet. As a result, the auto industry continues serving the past and not the future. Ferrari is just an example of that. They are selling to old people who have a fuckload of money. That doesn't mean these people have any sense or any care for innovation; they over-index on the physical experience of being in the car because they can't imagine a world where a car would drive them around. That is certainly true of the rich class in America. I hung out with them last year. They love their old mechanical cars because they can afford them, and Ferrari has to compete with that old mechanical car mentality just to sell them another $500,000 vehicle. Tesla, on the other hand, is going for the everyday person. And the everyday person knows it's stupid to rely on buttons when you can have a touchscreen like the one on your iPhone.

MAGA elected Trump to end pointless US wars with no positive end result in the Middle East. They said. But Trump started one nonetheless, and now MAGA supports that war, because MAGA is really about worship of Trump, regardless of which wars he starts.

I think way too many ppl are delusional about this idea of letting Iran control the SoH, having the US pull out, and just letting Iran set up a toll booth. Where does Saudi’s power actually come from? It’s not just because they’re rich. Their entire influence comes from being the world’s only swing Producer. We need oil, and Saudi controls that market. If Iran takes over the SoH, they become the most powerful, one of a kind Global Swing Producer in history. If they don’t like the oil price? They can just "adjust" the traffic in a strait that handles ~20mb/d to swing prices however they want. If the UAE gets on Iran’s bad side? "No passage for UAE tankers." If Kuwait tries to build a bypass? "Fine, the SoH is closed starting today. Let’s see if you can finish that bypass—which takes years—without making a single dime." By letting Iran control that flow, the US is effectively making Iran the ultimate energy gatekeeper. The entire regional hegemony shifts to Iran. Saudi and the UAE lose everything. Think about it—if you were MBS, would you let this happen? Let’s say the US pulls out this week. The US started this mess, and now the GCC has to just sit there and watch their power handed over to Iran? Let me give you a reality check for Americans: Imagine Mexico now controls the North American continent. "Want to fly to the UK? Get Mexico’s permission. Want to import jet fuel from Asia? Pay Mexico a toll and take the route they tell you to. Did you dare to criticize Mexico? Now, no container ships can enter your waters. You can’t say a word against the great President of Mexico." It sounds like a fantasy, but that’s the reality for the GCC. If the US tries to run away? If I were the GCC, I wouldn’t let them leave. I’d grab them by the hair and drag them back to clean up the mess they made. I’ve said before that this is an existential issue for Iran and Israel. Well, Iranian control of the SoH is an existential issue for every other GCC nation. And the GCC has leverage. They have massive wealth invested in the West, huge U.S. asset holdings, decades of lobbying networks, and they are the biggest donors for Trump’s terms. And of course they have oil. Do you really think Brent would stay below $100/bbl if the GCC teamed up and cut just 3mb/d for six months? Even the most optimistic guy knows the answer is zero chance. They don't even need a fancy excuse: "Oh, since the US gave up on us and Iran owns the SoH, it's not safe. We have to cut production. Sorry!" Within months, the US would be begging to come back. It’s just pushing the Middle East into an even bigger pit of fire. Thanks for listening to my TED Talk :) #oott #iran
