Follow Our Peritoneal Malignancy Weekend! 🚨 From international consensus to surgical boundaries and the latest advances in cytoreductive surgery for peritoneal surface malignancies #1⃣ Peritonectomy to enhance adequate cytoreductive surgery in peritoneal surface malignancy: review of nomenclature and boundaries ➡️ doi.org/10.1093/bjs/zn… This review shows considerable variation in terminology and recommended surgical procedures for patients with peritoneal malignancy There is a lack of consensus on these complex surgical interventions Different ‘terms’ are in use to describe the same peritonectomy procedure When one ‘term’ is used, the extent of peritonectomy procedure performed could vary from one surgeon to another There is a limited description of the anatomical boundaries of peritonectomy procedures and the subdivisions of each peritonectomy procedure need to be defined more precisely Work by Aditi Bhatt , Christina Fotopoulou , Brendan J Moran , Dennis Chi , Artem Stepanyan , Joel M Baumgartner , Naoual Bakrin , Marcello Deraco , Gwenael Ferron , Vahan Kepenekian , Shigeki Kusamura , Vincent Lavoue , Ahmed Al Niami , Alvaro Arjona-Sanchez , Jalid Sehouli , Vivek Sukumar , Kiran Turaga , Laurent Villeneuve , François Planchamp , Donal J Brennan , Ignacio Z Gutiérrez , Olivier Glehen #SoMe4Surgery #MedTwitter #SurgEd #Surgery @RCPSGTrainees @aecirujanos @SEIQuirurgica @iss_sic #MedicalTechniques @BJSAcademy @young_bjs @BJSOpen @des_winter @evanscolorectal @robhinchliffe1 @bplwijn @MalinASund @nfmkok @TejedorPat @paulo_sutt @PVaughanShaw @JJEarnshaw @juliomayol @ksoreide #colorectalsurgery #StepUp4CRC @FightCRC @ACPGBI #ERAS @dice_europe #Crohn #proctology @Dukes_Club @ACPGBI_EduTrain @AECP_FAECP @PelvExGroup @escp_tweets @YouESCP #TeachMeColoproctology #Some4COLoprocto @PSOGI_EC

Assessment of morbidity and predictors of wound complications following perineal wound closure after radical anorectal oncologic resection: retrospective cohort study ➡️doi.org/10.1093/bjsope… Flap utilization was associated with inherently complex situations, with no difference in wound complications among flap subtypes. Anal cancer and extralevator resection were independent predictors of dehiscence among all patients, whereas vaginectomy was a predictor among patients undergoing TFR. Omental flaps were not associated with increased morbidity. 👏👏👏Aron Bercz , Janet Alvarez , Roni Rosen , Matthew Drescher , Hiroyuki Sonoda , Georgios Karagkounis , Iris Wei , Maria Widmar , Garrett M Nash , Martin R Weiser , Philip B Paty , Robert J Allen , Jonas A Nelson , Michelle Coriddi , Joseph H Dayan , Colleen McCarthy , Farooq Shahzad , Evan Matros , Joseph J Disa , Peter G Cordeiro , Babak J Mehrara , Julio Garcia-Aguilar , J Joshua Smith , Emmanouil P Pappou #SoMe4Surgery #MedTwitter #SurgEd #Surgery @BJSAcademy @BJSurgery @young_bjs @juliomayol @JJEarnshaw @OUPMedicine #colorectalsurgery #colorectalcancer @ACPGBI @ACPGBI_EduTrain @Dukes_Club @ESCP_studies @escp_tweets @YouESCP
