I really think people have the idea & the reasons for the so-called "golden years" of development wrong. The magic isn't the age, but the traditional activities during that age: Play! Turning ages 5-12 into drill work to maximize the golden years destroys their goldenness.

All FBS schools deserve a chance. If not, then create a new division. The fact that if you are not in the SEC, B1G, and maybe, even the ACC, you are little brother is ridiculous.
Danny Kanell@dannykanell

We’re all arguing about Miami, Alabama, Notre Dame and overlooking that TWO groups of 5 schools are occupying spots when they have zero business playing in it this year. Tulane lost 45-10 to Ole Miss. JMU only played ONE P4 school and lost by 14. What a mess

@dougvansant @dannykanell Completely agree with this. As an Utah fan who still remembers the WAC and Mountain West days, I refuse to look down on the “little” schools. Either create a separate division or give them the chance they deserve.

@dannykanell I agree with you to an extent Danny. Tulane and JMU aren't the same as Bama, Miami and ND. But if we aren't going to reward a FBS school that won 11 games against FBS teams, why are they even in the FBS? Why even have the g5 schools at the same level?

I don’t care what anyone says about Ryan Smith and his BYU affiliation. He is one of the best things to happen to the State of Utah in a long time. The progress he is pushing in downtown revival and Utah pro sports in general is incredible. Thanks @RyanQualtrics.

Fun announcement this morning. This campus will be unlike anything in sports — focusing on health, wellness, performance, and all the best of Utah. Jazz & Mammoth is the collab we didn’t know we needed. Lots more to come!

@notgaetti Can you imagine paying money to see a bullpen day? Not only that, two weeks later you will be paying to see a position player lob strikes because the bullpen is worn out.

I’m embarrassed as a former @MLB player that a position player pitching is almost a daily occurrence in 2025. How did we get here folks? The @Mets have a $333,000,000 payroll in 2025 but they need to use a 34 year old backup outfielder to pitch? #shegone @notgaetti @BobFile @twuench @billdubs @SliderDominate @ROXSystem @BLocsports @CRAIG_LAPINER @hittingguru7 @TheRealJHair @DMEASrecruiting @WillClark22 @GDBJr5 @mikepiazza31 @_mcameron44 @ToddPratt07

@notgaetti Can you imagine paying a good chunk of money to see a position player pitch? MLB should fine teams when this happens.

Shouldn’t it also mean that you compete in multiple sports with different physical disciplines. Being a powerlifter who runs a lot for fun, or a runner who puts too much volume towards increasing their already strong enough squat and deadlift just means bad physical preparation.
Brady Holmer@Brady_H

If you claim to be a “hybrid athlete” I expect you to be in the top 1% for endurance events (5k up through marathon) and some strength-based sport. Basically you need to be good as hell at Hyrox (or similar) and also be a fast marathon runner. Being big and running mediocre times doesn’t mean anything. That’s just being well-rounded and fit.

@DrNeilStone We have had our baby fully vaccinated, or at least every time our doctor recommends, and I don’t think it has been that many. Is this just scaremongering? Maybe our baby has had this many.

@avgBSB @notgaetti I agree 100%. It kind of negates the importance of lifetime, and even, season stats. Pitchers and hitters shouldn’t be rewarded or punished by playing most of their games at a particular stadium. Dimensions should be the same.

Not enough people talk about Kenny Lofton: • .299/.372/.423 • 68.4 WAR • 622 (!!!) SB • 4 Gold Gloves • 2428 hits, 1528 runs • Never struck out 85x • Led league in SB 5x Somehow, just a one-and-done on his only HOF ballot (3.2% or the vote in 2013). An injustice!

Not enough people talk about Ramiro Mendoza • Classic starter/reliever swing man for NYY • 2.51 ERA, 1.012 WHIP in the postseason • Huge part of the Yankee Dynasty years • Reached 100 IP 4x, 50% GB rate 7x • Went to BOS but returned to NYY • From 1998-2000, during which the Yankees won three straight championships, Mendoza went 26-15 with a 120 ERA+ and threw two complete game shutouts despite mostly being a reliever • Across his entire first stint with the Yankees from 1996-2002, Mendoza was one of just two pitchers in MLB with 15+ saves, multiple CG SHO, and an ERA+ of at least 112 (along with HOF'er John Smoltz)

I’ve read 489 books this year. Impossible? Nope. How’d I do it? Here’s the secret… I have a toddler and most of them were kids books. If we count rereads I’m into the many thousands. Thanks for coming to my productivity back session
