@Zaina19922 @JonahDispatch You’re in California like me and look just as coastal elite. Why don’t you move to the Midwest or some Republican shithole in the south if you love “heritage Americans” so much ?

On my mom’s side I’m a “Heritage American” going back to the pre-revolutionary era. I think that’s cool and interesting. I think the term “Heritage American,” as used by people who take it and use it seriously, is repugnant, ignorant, low brow nonsense.

@onlylajik @SupriyaShrinate Agree no one owes guilt for ancestors. Still, if the kid supports reservation from experience, is it really self hate or just practical?

@SupriyaShrinate This self-loathing boy hates his ancestors for being educated & giving him a decent life. His guilt or shortcomings shouldn't be mistaken for collective shame on unreserved groups. Every child must get equal opportunity under the constitution.

This boy’s clarity of thought and honesty of expression on caste-based disparities are commendable. Hats off to you, young man! He is so right. Reservation is not a poverty alleviation programme but a means to bring equity and equilibrium to the social structure. 🫡🫡

@digitalborat @svembu Good points on remittances, but Indian unicorns in US prove talent flows both ways. What key reforms would actually bring builders back? 🤔

@svembu 95% of Indians in US are not entrepreneurs building cos. In India, they'll seek the same white‑collar roles at PPP salaries. Their US‑born kids are culturally American. India already benefits from Indian diaspora. India’s real need is institutional reform, not reverse migration.

Open letter to Indians in America. -- Dear brothers and sisters from Bharat: Like I did 37 years ago, you arrived in America with no money but with a good education and cultural heritage from Bharat. You achieved outstanding success. America was good to us. For that we must remain grateful - gratitude is our Bharatiya way. Yet today, a significant number of Americans, may be not the majority but not too far from it either, believe that Indians "take away" American jobs and our success in America was unfairly earned. You may think the next election will fix this, but your choice would be between people who hate our Bharatiya civilisation and people who hate civilisation itself. That is the "hard right" vs "woke left" battle. You are mere bystanders to that conflict. Meanwhile there is one thing that is true now and will be true in the future: the respect Indians command world-wide will substantially depend on the fortunes of India herself. If India remains poor, the woke left will give us moral lectures with pity and the hard right, different moral lectures with scorn ("hellhole") and we must not confuse either with respect. Respect in today's world, along with prosperity and security, comes from one source: a nation's technological prowess. India produces sufficient brain power to achieve that prowess but alas we exported so much of that talent, particularly to America. As we develop that prowess in India, our civilisational strength will assert itself. As difficult as it is for many of you to contemplate this, please come back home. Bharat Mata needs your talent. Our vast youthful population needs the technology leadership you gained over the years to guide them towards prosperity. Let's do it with a missionary zeal. Respectfully Sridhar Vembu

Currently in India, an engineering student has to first clear an entrance test. The entrance test carries questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Math. The students who are interested in Comp Sc or IT, why should they give entrance in Physics and Chemistry? A medical student is not asked Math in his entrance test. Then why Physics and Chemistry for a Comp Sc? Also, majority of engineering colleges teach Physics, Chemistry, Math in first year. Even Engineering Drawing. For what purpose? Other branch students are allowed to get the Comp Sc. job and hence they are learning some Comp Sc subjects apart from their own branch subjects. But a Comp Sc student is never allowed to get other Engineering jobs. Then why should he study same subjects as other Engineering students?

If one notices, among all Indian film stars, both genders, very few encourage their daughters to follow them into the film field, .. and we all know why? Now let’s spare a thought to the ones thrust into the field soon after puberty by their parents

This poem by Charles Bukowski changed my life 7 years ago. I revisit the poem every new year as I am reminded I once again have a new chance to chase the only thing worth chasing…a dream. Excited to continue analyzing the greatest show on earth, Wall Street, with everyone in 2026. Deeply appreciate everyone who follows and finds any value in the content as I find immense purpose in creating it. GO ALL THE WAY & HAPPY NEW YEAR.

@svembu Some people who voted may see themselves as neutral—neither left nor right—while others might not fully understand the issues. By looking at the vote share, we can get a sense of who is not strongly opposed to any side or belief.

At the security in Delhi airport. The security guy, likely from Odisha from his name, saw my attire and guessed I must be from Tamil Nadu and excitedly asked "Sir, Vijay Thalapathi win?" 🤓 Day before yesterday, a politically savvy farmer in my village, not a big movie fan, told me "Vijay is going to cause a surprise in our booth". He used to be a volunteer for Annamalai. As a Thuglak analysis said recently, the Vijay phenomenon in Tamil Nadu should not be dismissed as "movies" or "glamour" - a lot of people from various walks of life are pouring their hope for change on him. The reason exit polls should not be relied upon is that in a 3 party context, where the new party pulls voters from every side, we cannot know who will win. I still think either DMK or AIADMK will win, due to their far better ground level organization and money, but Vijay's political rise is remarkable, in such a short span of time.

@TTChelps You see the crowd, and there's still 16 mins for the 21C bus to come. This route needs more busses for sure. You can remove some 43B and start some 21C. They both come at the same platform but 2-3 43B passes by the time one 21C comes. It's everyday. Thank you.

It says something about a culture when the best and brightest Indians (who came to America) share no common philo with Indians back home. On a racial or national level, maybe. But still not completely due to the caste system. On the flip side, White people have empathy for the greatest and least of themselves, whereas Indians do not. Americans defeated Germany but still lament what happened after. We nuked Japan and still helped them rebuild. If this is how Indians treat other Indians back home, Americans should assume we’d get even less loyalty and even worse, no empathy at all, from Indians in America. The harsh truth is Americans do not care what Indians contribute to America and never will. This is because there will always be a massive cultural gap that will never be filled, and hypothetically if it was there will still be a massive character gap that will never be filled either.
