GN ~ I’ve been thinking more about the year 1616 recently, and on today of all days. The below poem I’ve been working on is in two different voices 🥀🔥 The far and grumbling horizon, I now realize; Is just a map, Running in the background of; What I now know, To be my last day. There was a time before, There were days like this, When the beauty of life’s passage, Seemed stayed and steadied in its stilted order. For in the morning, It was like any other. River banks; Running streams about my eyes, And nerves all rooted round, In cycles of quiet permanence. My mind’s order, Put best to use upon the page. To seep in supple weeds, Embraced by them, for weeks, Until we are quick far from the breach. In those days before, Lives were lived in dreams beyond, I fertile findings what was truly enlightened. ~ Man’s rising temperature, Heightens, heaves and turrets, Steaming ruptures to the breach. Could he likely lonely sit with himself, In meditations grasp, Like buddha’s boundless joy? Shed suffering surplus, Until it’s empty wishing bowls, Were deep basins, Turned out and marrow, Then he, may happiness know. But before the stream is still, He scurries, Gazing at the gold to bare, The great and glory. Rabid wretched fancy of Modernity, In forces willed, More rightly coursed for wonders, This world knows nothing. For what could be; The endless joys brought by technology? Another hand and foot outside myself, That manages wants. These burdens of burning; From my pulsing heart, Unto my health. Ambition is the only moral, And to be vicious is victorious. And suffering stems only from its lack, When more is gained, Not born. For men like me and him, We are the musket’s voice, Of the sacred and sacrament, The blood of blood. We ripped the pages out of books, And into life. We saw only one truth was to rise, You cannot rise without, That taste for what they have. Even if by crumbs, That were scraped from, The bread of glory. I’ve seen many cracks, Through doorways I was left outside of, Seeing past the wooden bars, That kept me hungry, And looking up to stars. Provenance is everything for NFTs ~ and arguably the only real value of the technology 🥀🔥 If it weren’t for crypto markets constantly disappointing and major platforms shutting down one after another, imagine how many wins we’d be seeing from independent artists forging their own paths with a long-term view. Since artist contracts emerged, I’ve been a major proponent of them. It’s the main reason I gravitated toward early Hic Et Nunc & @objktcom in 2021 ~ not because of any chain tribalism (I never cared about any of that nor thought it mattered in the slightest), but because it felt independent from hype-driven, platform-centric models (many of which have now definitively collapsed). From around 2022 onward, platforms like @manifoldxyz , Objkt, and later @TransientLabs enabled artist contracts. Nearly all my drops since have been on my own contracts, with few exceptions. Add of course inscribing directly onto Bitcoin Mainnet via Ordinals through platforms like @trygamma ~ all of these options are arguably the strongest provenance solutions that exists today, physical or digital. Collectors were never buying a token on a platform. They were buying my artwork. As this landscape evolves, I’ll likely retroactively migrate early storefront works onto my own contracts. Even my recent POEM Collection on OpenSea is on my own contract ~ so if any platform disappears, provenance remains intact. I’ll continue minting on art-focused platforms like @SuperRare , but always through my artist contract, so provenance links directly back to me, no matter where the work appears. 🥀🔥

Proud to present the exclusive premiere of 'Pace' by @CaballeroAnaMa 🎥 In this choreographic poem, Caballero pays homage to Pipilotti Rist’s 'Ever Is Over All' and proposes an evolution in personal empowerment: from symbolically taking down failed systems, to radical repair. 'Pace' posits that private joy is as powerful a form of resistance as destruction. Caballero stars in her own work, performing gleeful movements rooted in Latin American salsa music, which she grew up dancing and accesses as a source of resilience. As she advances, urban wreckage repairs. In Rist’s work a woman smashes car windows with a flower as she walks down a street, an exuberant smile on her face, similar to the smile she’s given by a passing policewoman, who presumably approves. The works are connected through the protagonists' outward and exaggerated expressions of self-possessed joy and their public (and thus out-of-place) physicality. Both works are also linked through the protagonists’ red shoes, signaling confidence in the trodden path. Madrid’s Calle del Barquillo is recreated through AI because a pharmacy that bore her father’s name, F. Caballero, existed there. Caballero pilgrimed here daily as she mourned her father’s death, finding solace in its presence. This is the first work from Caballero’s 'Literal Litoral' series of choreographic poems that combines live, performed poetry with cinematic AI ↓
