#JMPD TRU officers were conducting crime prevention patrols in Roodepoort CBD when they noticed suspicious activity at the train station. The officers observed the area & identified a male making exchanges with multiple individuals. The officers approached & searched the suspect finding 47x folded brown plastic packets containing illegal substances (nyaope) in his possession. The suspect led the officers to his residence, where an additional 100x folded brown plastic packets containing nyaope were recovered. In total, 147 packets of suspected drugs with an estimated street value of approximately R4,410 were seized. During the arrest, the suspect attempted to offer the officers a bribe. Today three business people were shot and killed while having breakfast. In broad daylight. Gunman walked in and shot them dead. The councillor in the area tells #eNCA that this has become a common occurrence in the #Joburg #CBD. There’s some indication that it could be due to turf wars. Shops are owned by different people and it could be a fight for territory. No arrests have been made so far.
