As an Iranian American, I strongly oppose treating Iranians as a “public charge” risk or including us in broad #USCISpause. The data simply does not support it, and policies like this ignore who we actually are in the U.S. 1.Iranian Americans are one of the most educated groups in the U.S. Around 65% have a bachelor’s degree or higher, with a large share holding advanced degrees. This is a high-skill, knowledge-driven population contributing directly to innovation and economic growth. 2.We are highly integrated legally. About 79% of Iranian immigrants are naturalized citizens, compared to ~51% for immigrants overall, and only ~6% are unauthorized. That reflects long-term stability, not risk. 3.The numbers clearly contradict the narrative: ~$79K median household income for Iranian immigrants vs ~$64K for all immigrants and ~$66K U.S.-born; ~12% poverty rate vs ~14% for immigrants overall. This is not a population trending toward public dependence. 4.Our workforce profile is heavily skewed toward management, business, science, and arts (~60%+), nearly double the immigrant average. This is a high-contribution group driving productivity, not relying on public systems. 5.Iranian Americans also show strong English proficiency and private health insurance coverage rates, both key indicators of self-sufficiency and reduced reliance on public assistance compared to broader immigrant groups. 6.The community has a strong track record in entrepreneurship, STEM fields, and professional sectors, contributing to job creation and tax revenue rather than drawing from public resources. This is not about politics, it’s about facts. Iranian Americans are educated, employed, integrated, and economically stable. Policies that label us as “high risk” are not just unfair, they are analytically wrong. @USCIS @StateDept @DHSgov
