Virginia Scope: Virginia Senate Majority Leader Scott Surovell (D) rules out proposal forcing the retirement of Virginia Supreme Court justices in order to get a different ruling in the redistricting case.

Why not just painfully kill him for free?
The argument that expensive life imprisonment is worse than death because the guy will actually get raped a bunch of times, etc has tons of "moral," logical, and financial flaws.

But the post is about Millennials who are, at present, 30-45 years old. Virtually none of them are even close to achieving retirement goals.
Some of this may be them just not having any, which is kind of my point, but the obvious counter-argument would likely be something to the effect of, "why should I make goals that I'll never achieve?" In other words, pessimism about their own financial futures or even about ever being able to retire.

I think having an ambitious (but realistic) plan for your retirement and working towards that goal helps quite a bit.
I'm not a millennial and I do have a child, but I am pretty confident that I would not be overcome with "what does it all mean?" malaise if I didn't. And the reason is that I have something I have planned for and to look forward to.

Someone can certainly *make* a billion dollars. That’s not the same thing as earning. Growing fast and disrupting markets also often means chasing and wielding market power, political influence, and scale. Take Airbnb. They heavily lobby politicians against passing housing laws to protect working class residents because it’s bad for their business model. Airbnb could not exist at its current scale and size without the housing market destabilizations, displacements, and exploits that are supercharging the evictions of working people everywhere from Puerto Rico to Jackson Hole. Now young people are planning for a future where they will never be able to afford to own a home while others have 20 and live off renting it out to them at extortionate rates with zero protections. Yes, a tiny amount of people can make billions of dollars doing that. And millions of everyday Americans are bearing the cost.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. All the "smart" Democrats are saying that the court should have addressed this issue before the election.
But the Court says IN THE DECISION:
"Thoughout this litigation, the Commonwealth (ie the Democrats) has insisted that we cannot lawfully decide this case prior to the referendum"
Before the election, the Democrats *successfully* argued that "courts cannot interfere to stop any of the proceedings while this permanent law is in the process of being made"
The Democrats WON the argument that the Courts MUST allow the election to go ahead without ruling on the constitutionality of what they were voting on
Now they are complaining that the Court should have ruled on this case before the election. This is the most cut-and-dried case of intentional idiocy I've seen in at least a week and a half

They filed an appeal to a court that clearly lacks jurisdiction and couldn’t even spellcheck beforehand.
Same geniuses that argued the court couldn’t rule before the referendum only to then complain that they wasted $70 million on a referendum that did not count.
