Part of why its good to post family life is that babies have basically been sequestered from society into schools and kids-only places/activities. In the past there were more children than young adults, that's no longer true.

This is a sleight of hand tactic designed to make reasonable people look unreasonable. Like maybe I’m just a weirdo who can’t live near other people. Maybe I’m motivated by irrational hatred. Maybe I go to get my mail in the morning and accidentally see a minority and start throwing up and ranting and raving, because I just can’t stand to live around people who are different.
This is all absurd. It’s not real. Almost nobody is actually like that. I get along with people from other places and cultures just fine. I really quite like every minority or immigrant I’ve ever lived near or worked with.
I understand that the United States is already significantly multicultural and that that isn’t likely to change. I don’t think immigration is ever going to go to zero, nor should it.
It’s just a fake, ridiculous caricature that has to stand in for real argument, because people like Noah know that associating reasonable views about demographic replacement with these kinds of weird interpersonal deficiencies has long been an effective tactic.
But this is a fundamentally dishonorable way to argue.

A few Christmases ago, the catalytic converter was stolen off my used Prius… in the suburbs. I was mortified, as a young woman just getting on her feet after college. Thankfully insurance handled it, but one thing stood out to me:
All of my Liberal friends and family saying something along the lines of, “well they probably needed that catalytic converter more than you, it’s Christmas after all.”
It is ghoulish to me, that criminal behavior is to be moralized at that level. A catalytic converter is not a loaf of bread, and I do not expect a Jean Valjean arc from the fellow who stole mine anytime soon. After installing a cage on my new converter, my mechanic described the skill necessary to effectively saw these things off. These thieves aren’t high school girls swiping eyeliner testers from Sephora, yet some city officials are behaving as though the two are indistinguishable.
Ask yourself- is this the kind of city I want to live in? Where, in order to drive a $2000 tin can à la Craigslist, you first need to soup it up with an $800 Mad Max-style cage? Let’s not forget, even if you live in the suburbs, expect to pay insurance prices as if you drove through the jungles of Nicaragua each morning. The codification of permissible rhetoric is simply too expensive, when we aren’t paying for it with life or limb.

And you can’t have unilateral disarmament. You can’t promote racial pride for only some groups. You can’t organize social advocacy movements for some races and not others. It’s all or none. The some has been the cause of a ton of social friction. Not that the all is good for society.
