Here's how I build a service pages that actually rank. (Save this) One page per service. Roof repair gets its own page, roof replacement gets its own page, don't lump it all on one services page. H1 is the service plus the city. Roof Replacement in Clifton NJ. That headline is how Google files the page so just say it plain. Length, I aim for around a thousand words, then I look at whoever's ranking above me and if they're longer I go longer. There's stuff they covered you haven't and stuff they missed you can. The thing almost no site has, and I mean almost none, is real job case studies on the page itself. The actual house. What town, what it cost, how long it took, photos. So the exterior painting page has an actual exterior job on it with the real number. Their page says quality work and free estimates. Yours says this house in Nutley, $14K, 6 days, before and after. The person comparing three quotes remembers which one that was. Embed a Google map on there too. I do a custom My Map with pins on the shop and a few job sites. Google reads the embed, it backs up that you actually work where the page says you work, and people can pull directions right off it. Then a section about the city itself. Neighborhoods you cover, jobs you've done around town, what things run price wise in that market. If you don't know the neighborhoods cold, the town's Wikipedia page has them. This is what makes it a Clifton page and not a template. Ask your vendors for links while you're at it. The supply house, the distributor, the manufacturer if you're certified with them. A lot of them keep a page listing the contractors they work with, or they'll add you if you ask. A link from a supplier in your own trade pointing at your page beats most of what people pay for. FAQ at the bottom, town inside the questions. How much does a roof replacement cost in Clifton. Answer it with a real range. Form up high because most people never scroll to the bottom, reviews next to it, phone button that follows the page down. And link the page to your other pages and blog posts. I want five internal links minimum or Google barely knows what the page is for.

That gets you a template with zero shot at ranking. Proper meta titles, H1s with service and city, page structure, none of that shows up unless you tell it to. AI does not automatically know your title tags and how they need to be structured a certain way or that your H1 needs the service and city in it. You still have to tell it. Yes ai web builders make beautiful sites.. but they still take time, but just need the right guidance My creativity has genuinely gone up building this way. Faster iteration, better looking output, way more control than drag and drop ever gave me I have seen this work for my own business and for clients. Beautiful sites that also rank because the SEO fundamentals were built in from the start Traditional drag and drop building is going to keep declining as these tools get better IMO My site rankings on a Lovable BTW 👇

a good engineer friend of mine explained the effect of AI on software engineering with the perfect analogy. woodworkers used to do everything with hand tools. then came power tools. power tools didn’t replace woodworkers, but they made them significantly more productive. woodworkers can still choose to build everything with hand tools, but doing so has become more of a niche choice. AI is doing the same thing for engineers - you can still write code by hand, but it won't be the default for much longer. this will likely apply to most industries, and it doesn't mean that your job is 100% safe. but at least somebody will still have a job.
