Unbelievable Model Run this Evening… @Met4CastUK pointed this out, the graphic below is not in any way a forecast (especially since other models are nowhere near this extreme) but this is quite literally the first time I’ve ever seen 50°C forecasted by any model anywhere in Europe. Sometime around mid July, this particular GFS run paints a genuinely outrageous picture where almost all of France would be deep in the 40’s and even hitting 50°C in the south. Of course this is highly unlikely to occur but just the simple fact that a model is simulating things like this is concerning, especially after the historic heatwave Europe already experienced at the end of June.
