@BarackObama Didn’t democrats just change the districts from a 6-5 split to 10-1? Didn’t that just dilute the power of electoral minorities? Where are the cherishing of democratic ideals there?

Barack Obama@BarackObama·
Today’s Supreme Court decision effectively guts a key pillar of the Voting Rights Act, freeing state legislatures to gerrymander legislative districts to systematically dilute and weaken the voting power of racial minorities - so long as they do it under the guise of “partisanship” rather than explicit “racial bias.” And it serves as just one more example of how a majority of the current Court seems intent on abandoning its vital role in ensuring equal participation in our democracy and protecting the rights of minority groups against majority overreach. The good news is that such setbacks can be overcome. But that will only happen if citizens across the country who cherish our democratic ideals continue to mobilize and vote in record numbers - not just in the upcoming midterms or in high profile races, but in every election and every level.

@BlugrassBall @JacksonCollier Ok. Chose Arkansas over Kentucky, NC and BYU. Not bad company for recruiting. One uncited media member. Was this after he chose Arkansas over this media member’s school? x.com/therandomsec/s…

Miikka Muurinen is elite. This is him at 18, hitting a dagger 3 over Nikola Jokic in the 4th quarter. Muurinen scored double digits when Jokic was guarding him in this game. Jokic is the best player in the world rn.

@UziCryptoo Without mortgages you rent from a rich person that can pay cash. In countries like Jamaica, families build for decades as they can afford to buy materials since banks don’t do mortgages for average people. The alternative is much worse without a mortgage.

$625k home 20% down-payment $500k mortgage With a 7% interest rate and a 30-year term, you are paying $697,544.64 in interest. The $625,000 house cost you $1,447,544.64. This is equal to a $4,021 monthly rental payment, plus you pay for maintenance and repairs. Houses cost so much because people can borrow money that’s created with the press of a button to buy them. If everyone had to pay in cash for their home, prices would drop significantly. Most people think mortgages are designed to help them. But NO. Mortgages are designed to earn profits for banks.

@BarnCat296656 @UziCryptoo Unless you have a high yield checking I’d put that in a high yield savings/money market account if you are going to just hold that balance. At least earn some interest.

@UziCryptoo I do the same thing. We have $10K in checking. There's no danger of not being able to pay off the credit cards in full. Ramsey wants you to put all your money in the stock market even if you're retired. He's against precious metals too which makes no sense.

CALLER: I put $3,000 worth of monthly expenses on my credit card and pay off in full. I get 2% cash back, so that's $60 back every month. DAVE RAMSEY: Get rid of the card. You're telling me that you spend $3,000 on a high interest credit card, just to get $60? That's not how you get rich! CALLER: I don't pay interest, I pay it off every month and get $60. DAVE RAMSEY: Get rid the card, use debit cards ONLY! CALLER: So give up the $60 I get back monthly? DAVE RAMSEY: That's not how you get rich! In reality, if you are resposible, USE credit cards. It's not just cash back. It's also liability protection. Every dollar matters.

Trump just said Iran hit the USS Gerald R. Ford “from 17 angles” and the crew “had to run to save our lives.” His own Pentagon says it was a laundry room fire. A sitting president publicly contradicting his own DoD during an active war is extraordinary — regardless of which version is true.

@SenSchumer Other than your party believing women and minorities aren’t smart enough to register to vote if it passes, what is your specific reason that it should not be passed? Please cite specific wording and location in the act of the words that you disagree with so we can all look it up.

@CoryBooker You act like everyone has to register every year. Most Americans are already registered. The women argument is a joke too. All the documents needed to legally change their name are the same ones needed to update voter registration which can be done at the same time.

The @HouseGOP SAVE Act: 🗳️Requires hard-to-get & costly docs to vote 🗳️Hurts married women who’ve changed their names 🗳️Adds red tape for seniors & military families & gives DHS voting rolls It disenfranchises millions.  I voted NO — we must protect the right to vote.
Congressman Gabe Amo@RepGabeAmo

Republicans are trying to disenfranchise voters again. Their so-called SAVE Act makes voting harder for millions with red-tape and burdensome paperwork. It’s a modern-day poll tax. We won’t back down on voting rights.

Our democracy works best when we all can participate. That’s why I voted against the SAVE America Act, which could disenfranchise millions of women who changed their last name after marriage. I didn't come to Congress to watch my daughter's generation have fewer rights than mine.

The SAVE act is anti-American & anti-democracy. I’m furious that it passed the House. Let’s be clear about what this legislation does, and does not do. It’s already illegal for noncitizens to vote in federal elections. Voter fraud is rarer than rare—and when it does occur, it’s often MAGA trying to illegally tip the scale. What this legislation WILL DO is make it harder for American citizens—especially married women who’ve changed their last name—to vote in elections. Simply put, Republicans know they’re going to lose the next election, so they’re trying to rig the system. For the sake of democracy, we can’t let that happen.

@abbydphillip It’s literally the same documents required to change their name in the first place that must be provided to update the voter registration. In Arkansas they asked my wife if she wanted to update her registration when she did her name. It wasn’t hard at all.

Here are the facts: the 7 states where 2/3 of Americans don't have a passport. All of them are red states: West Virginia, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. Yes, that's your home state, Scott. Married women whose married names aren't on their birth docs would face extra hurdles. Just because you don't care, doesn't mean it isn't a real issue. It took 17 years for Real ID (with similar citizenship requirements in some states) to actually be implemented in the US. Do YOU think that's because Americans are "too dumb" to figure it out? Oh and BTW, according to the SAVE ACT, most Real IDs wouldn't count.
Scott Jennings@ScottJenningsKY

This SAVE AMERICA ACT debate has revealed a truth about the Left: they think black voters, married women, and rural voters are too stupid to figure out how to vote. What a wild, condescending argument.

@TimHannan Even everyone receiving government assistance should already have an ID if legal. Government money goes to bank accounts which banks are required to verify your ID to open. It’s really not a big issue when a majority of adult processes require an ID already

The SAVE America Act would impose outrageous voter suppression requirements on American citizens. One example: married women who take their spouse’s name & whose last name may not match their birth certificate. Do they not get to vote? This bill is DOA in the Senate.
