Marc Guehi moved to England when he was 1 year old. Since then he has become a role model citizen, an absolute example of how to integrate yourself in to a country as an immigrant. He has earned an English passport, and he has contributed for society more than you could ever dream to do. I think there is a wider issue here, that most people don’t understand how our democracy works, including Councils, hence their understanding that problems are ‘easy all we need to do is’. Council committee cycles can take months, Local Plans to set out development strategies for the next ten years can take two years to prepare and then under certain circumstances be called in by the Secretary of State. But I am surprised that as new Councillors, they didn’t receive any training, which would normally be via an induction process from the Chief Executive’s department.
