Colchester @marksandspencer I asked where the women’s changing room was to try on swimwear. Manager Andrew (he/ his /him) says gender neutral changing areas are “completely safe” for women and girls. For asking him this question, he told me to leave the store. @SexMattersOrg

@satvikrsharma Why would Labor lose votes to the Greens after they did a left wing thing that the Greens have been calling for for a while?

The more interesting thing to be honest is the Greens vote going up. Eventually Labor will have to reckon with PHON, move to the right on immigration (like in the UK) pissing off the left wing base which will move to the Greens. We are mirroring the UK rn.

Got a heap of emails in response to my columns in the Sydney and Melbourne papers today - I was amazed that many people thought the new top CGT rate would be 30% maximum - It's actually 30% minimum!!!

If we cut the NDIS to zero we could reduce every income tax bracket over 45k to 30% (approximately) which would you rather have

@bandtistbraden Labor underperforming in most cases is the broad left side of politics underperforming and normally occurs when the LNP and One Nation do well, but we're a democracy and a free country, you're allowed to cheer on the LNP and One Nation.

If these swings were replicated at the statewide level, the Queensland Greens would GAIN Amy MacMahon’s old seat of South Brisbane. The party would come within 1% of victory in Greenslopes, 2% in McConnel and 3% in Cooper.

PROJECTION: Greens candidate and teacher Jess Lane will achieve an over 2% positive swing on 3-candidate-preferred in the Stafford by-election. Jess ran on a platform of taxing resources, a public energy retailer and a rent freeze. Steven Miles’s ALP receives a -6% swing on 3CP

Australia’s new tax changes are a joke. $250k income + $50k capital gain = $106k in tax here. Same earnings in USA = $51k tax. I made an app to show you where all your tax goes.

@haydenbeamish Terrible ideas. A progressive tax system is much, much fairer. People who can afford to pay more tax should. People on lower incomes cannot afford 30% tax.

The budget fix isn’t hard. An idea: 1. 30% flat tax. No income creep. 2. GST to 13%. 3. Scrap the nuisance taxes. 4. 2% mineral levy. 5. Job seeker $500/fortnight. Encourage work. 6. NDIS $35k each. Cut the rorts. Voila. Surplus. albonomics.com

@the_transit_guy London is grey and rainy but not cold and snowy. A mild rainy, temperate city is fine. Places like Chicago, Minneapolis etc are much worse.

Well done @AngusTaylorMP it’s time to FIGHT LIKE HELL. Well done particularly on giving people hope That was an excellent Budget Reply. I really liked: - Capping immigration, and deporting 70,000 overstayers - A fairer go for young Australians - Keeping Coal-fired power plants, increasing onshore fuel capacity and building new refineries (yay!) - Raising Defence Spending to 3% of GDP (long overdue!) - The FUTURE GENERATIONS FUND to fight debt - Lifting the Nuclear Ban!!! - AXING Labor’s TOXIC TAXES. Making sure taxes paid by hardworking Australians go towards Australians - Indexing taxation. Labor’s reckless spending has seen interest rates go up 15 times so this would be amazing - “Mass migration is changing Australia for the worse. Labor bringing 2 million too many too quickly”. Linking it to housing is critical - AXING HANDOUTS for NON CITIZENS. About time! - Lifting the Instant Asset write off to $50K - “Future Made in Australia in truth is a future made abroad, $18 billion is in the Budget net zero spending. Net Zero under the Coalition WILL GO” Thank goodness I really like this too - Labor puts Australians second and the Coalition will put Australians first Onwards

The word in the street is it may be possible to reduce the impact of the punitive 30% tax on discretionary trusts by moving to a fixed trust. My tax experts tell me it was rather vague in the budget papers, and everybody's waiting for the next announcement from the government. Watch this space

If Labor cuts negative gearing & capital gains discount tonight, we should thank Adam Bandt, Max Chandler-Mather & all Greens MPs (incl. Leader Larissa Waters). Without their incredibly campaigning, housing & tax breaks for investors wouldn’t even be on the political agenda 1/2

I changed some of my assumption of preference flows from micro-parties, and based on the lastest figures I now estimated that 64.9% of preferences from the Liberals and Nationals flowed to One Nation over IND Milthorpe. Still a pretty weak flow for a rural seat.
Yuan (Joseph) Lin tweet media
Yuan (Joseph) Lin@yuanlintech

I estimated 63.3% of preferences from the Liberals and Nationals flowed to One Nation over IND Milthorpe, which I think it’s a pretty weak flow for a rural seat. Percentage of Liberal voters who preferenced Milthorpe could be as much as 40% or even higher.
