The fact-finding committee that inquired into “Discrimination” and “Conversion” of Non-Muslims to Islam in Jamia Millia Islamia University, Delhi has named 16 faculty members as having tried to intimidate and convert non-Muslim students. Here’s a sample of the depositions made by 27 faculty members, non-teaching faculty, Ph.D scholars and students and 7 ex-students. These are a gist of the depositions. The unabridged statements make for grim reading. CW1: Promotion as Associate Professor stopped because she refused to convert to Islam CW 2: Hindu Assistant Controller of Examination revealed that he was denied amenities because he was a “kafir” CW 3: Faculty members S@&$ B&%^#, F@$%&# K?*&%$ put pressure to convert to Islam and marry a Muslim. Another professor A$#%&@ H&%$# said if she didn’t convert to Islam acid would be thrown on her face. Didn’t convert so was denied promotion. Moved HC got relief. CW 4: 2 months after joining as Assistant Professor, one Dr S&%$# A%$ handed over a copy of Holy book and scheduled discussions on Islam. CW 5 and CW 6: Asked to read Holy book. Promotions held up because they resisted CW 11: Joined JMI in 2007 in a clerical position. Within 6 months of joining was bullied by Muslim colleagues into converting to Islam as “Schedule castes” are not respected in Hindu society CW 13: JMI staff member. Joined JMI in 2007 was routinely invited for offering Namaz, warned against saying “namaste” forced to say “salaam aleikum’. Colleagues would often condemn Hindu practices and traditions. Named two female students who converted to Islam under pressure. CW 16: PHD student in JMI applied for fellowship. Faced constant religion-based taunts from Muslim colleagues and teachers CW 17: Muslim JMI employee claims nexus between JMI professors and SIO, Campus Front of India, Popular Front of India, Tablighi Jamaat to convert non-Muslims in university. CW 19: JMI student claimed that Muslim students would often force non-Muslims to read the Holy book. Prevented from marking Hindu religious festivals.
