Yesterday, Israel targeted the home of Lebanese journalist Mohammed Sherri, killing him and his wife and injuring his grandchildren. Sherri was the head of political programs at Al Manar TV. While the channel is affiliated with Hezbollah, it remains a media outlet licensed under Lebanese law, and Sherri himself was a civilian. Under international law, this constitutes a crime. Predictably, there will be little to no outrage among many journalists. He was Arab, Muslim, and held views they oppose, apparently sufficient, in some eyes, to render his killing acceptable. #IsraeliCrimes #Lebanon

Aliyev’s war rhetoric against Iran isn’t the surprising part. The terrifying part is using a potential false-flag attack as a pretext for escalation. If Iran has hit Baku with a drone, the proportional response is a drone response, not mobilizing forces for a possible ground invasion. When a leader reaches for maximal escalation over a limited strike, it tells you the goal was a corridor to war, aligned with U.S. and Israeli interests. Aliyev is trying to play the 80s Saddam Hussein in 2026.

3/3 Maar Brekelmans wil geen eens serieuze sancties tegen Israël instellen (waar het internationale recht wel om vraagt). In plaats daarvan verdedigt hij keer op keer en ook nu weer Israëls agressie. Dus, als je deze oorlog steunt wees dan wel zuiver in je argumenten.

1/2 De aanval op Iran is evident in strijd met het internationale recht, want met het geweldsverbod zoals neergelegd in het VN-Handvest. Brekelmans kan het dan ook niet ontkennen, en hij verdedigt hier dus een flagrante schending van het volkenrecht
