Big Bend this Easter weekend. Such an incredibly special place. It’s always worth it.

For those asking how to support Ryan, Avery, and the entire Harrington family as they process the unbearable loss of Ryder, a gofundme has been set up by his fraternity brothers. But more than anything, please keep them in your prayers. 🙏🏼 #austin #txlege gofundme.com/f/in-loving-me…

Ryder’s passing has hit especially close to home for our Team Burrows family. Ryder was the brother-in-law of one of our own, and our hearts are aching alongside his loved ones. From all accounts, Ryder was exactly the kind of young man who made a difference without even trying—full of life, loyal to his friends, proud to be a Red Raider and a Texan, and someone who showed up for the people around him. Elisabeth and I are praying for Avery and Ryan, the entire Harrington family, and everyone who loved Ryder—the number appears to be countless. We ask that you lift them up as well.

We are heartbroken over the passing of Ryder Harrington. From everything shared by those who knew him, Ryder was a light, a beloved son, brother, and friend, and passionate member of the Red Raider community, who brought energy, kindness, and joy everywhere he went. The impact he had on the people around him is clear. We’re keeping the Harrington family, his friends, and the Texas Tech/Austin community in our thoughts during this unimaginable time. A GoFundMe has been set up to support his family. The link is in our bio and down below for anyone who is able to help.

I’ve spent a significant amount of time in the Big Bend region. The most striking thing about the border wall debate is the bi-partisan uproar against it. Locals are befuddled by the lack of warning and law enforcement are adamant that it’s an unnecessary expense. As Terrell County Sheriff @SheriffThad put it, the terrain itself is a God-given barrier. Spend any time there at all and you’ll understand why. It’s an unforgiving, desolate, yet remarkably beautiful region. The numbers don’t pencil out for a need and the wall is a solution in search of a problem. Let’s not destroy one of the most beautiful parks unnecessarily. Let’s not destroy a local tourism economy. Let’s treat Big Bend like the sacred land it is. My colleague @Forrest4Trees covered the backlash to the plan here: texasmonthly.com/news-politics/…

Whitmire governs toward the middle and builds bipartisan trust. Talarico does the same — but the Chron Ed Board treats them like opposites. Would be laughable if it weren’t so ridiculous.

The Houston Chronicle editorial board says that Democrats should make state Rep. James Talarico their Senate candidate because he's running like he actually wants to win in Texas. houstonchronicle.com/opinion/endors…

This election cycle marks 10 years since James Russell @jamesfortexas joined @quorumreport. We *cannot* do this without him. He puts in untold hours, pours his heart into his work, and somehow keeps a sense of humor about it. Here's to the next decade, James #txlege

Texans: What church did/do y'all go to? I'll go first. I grew up in the First Baptist Church of El Campo under Pastor Rick DuBroc. A legend, he did it 42 years there. My Sunday School teacher was Wharton County Junior College History Professor Joe Tom Davis, a legend, too.
