COURAGE is not the absence of your fear(s). It is the ability and composure you harness from within you to do that which you want [need] to do regardless of the degree and intensity of your fears.

@MomohBangs200 @OsmanYansaneh Getting things brand new with such high prices is not the definition of better life, especially for someone starting or even for a veteran. Why spend Le 8000 on utensils and sofa Le 25,000 on Le 4,000 when you are not running a restaurant business. Better life has no blueprint.

@OsmanYansaneh Here is the thing about the post, it is a comparison of living a better life and how impossible it is to achieve that based on the cost of things and salary earned 😀

Here are some reasons why #SierraLeone may be on the proposed US travel ban list: - Salone’s high visa overstay rate - Govt owes $8 million to Jenner and Block, an American firm, and they've refused to pay - Resurgence of Sierra Leone in West Africa’s cocaine corridor - Sierra Leone’s officials may have rubbed off the State Dept the wrong way over the 2023 elections - All of the above
Vickie Remoe@VickieRemoe

Sir please @julius_maadabio can you call Ambassador Hunt @USEmbFreetown very very early in the morning to inquire about this proposed travel ban list. How did we make it on there and how can we make it off? Its already so hard for our friends and family to get visitor visas to come to the US, a travel ban would make it next to impossible. I need my mama to be able to visit me😭

This whole saga. Prior to Lara being fired all I knew about her was her excellent work. She was one of the most respected Sierra Leoneans in public service. Under her leadership the Audit Service not only grew but thrived and it was one of the most trusted and consistent institutions in our country. I hate the fact that for doing HER JOB—the right way! For protecting the people’s trust and serving her country, that her name and career built over decades have been dragged through the mud. I can’t begin to imagine the psychological toll this government has inflicted on her and Tamba and their families. Not a single person there has been held accountable for forging receipts at the Presidency. And there have been no more audits of the Presidency, the First Lady’s Office or the VP’s Office. Worst still what serious auditor will ever take a job to lead Audit Service again knowing full well what has happened to Lara and Tamba. Anyone who works there henceforth knows the sacred cows. Shame!

Auditor-General Responds to Tribunal Report, Raises Concerns Over Findings and Process In a detailed statement dated September 3, 2024, suspended Auditor-General Mrs. Lara Taylor-Pearce has raised significant concerns regarding the findings of the Tribunal that investigated her and former Deputy Auditor-General, Mr. Tamba Momoh. The report, which was circulated on social media on August 29, 2024, has prompted Mrs. Taylor-Pearce to clarify several key points related to the audit process and the Tribunal's conclusions. Mrs. Taylor-Pearce expressed surprise and disappointment over the Tribunal's handling of the evidence and the conclusions drawn. She highlighted that the audit of the Office of the President was a compliance audit, not a financial statement audit, and that the third-party confirmations referenced by the Tribunal were misapplied. According to Taylor-Pearce, the standards for compliance audits differ from those for financial audits, a distinction that the Tribunal seemingly failed to appreciate. She pointed out that the Tribunal preferred the testimony of a state witness, despite the lack of supporting evidence or regulatory basis for his assertions. In contrast, the Tribunal dismissed the testimony of an international public sector audit expert, whose credentials and experience far exceeded those of the state’s witnesses. This expert's testimony, which was central to the defense, was largely ignored in the Tribunal’s final report. Mrs. Taylor-Pearce also addressed what she described as a fundamental misunderstanding by the Tribunal of the audit processes within the Audit Service Sierra Leone (ASSL). The Tribunal claimed there were two separate reports prepared for the same audit, a conclusion Taylor-Pearce refuted as misleading. She explained that draft reports are typically prepared by audit teams and reviewed by the Deputy Auditor-General before the final report is signed off. The Tribunal’s interpretation of these drafts as separate reports reflects a lack of understanding of standard audit procedures, she asserted. Regarding the performance audit of the Freetown City Council (FCC), Mrs. Taylor-Pearce described the evidence presented by state witnesses as "baseless, unfounded, and untruthful." She criticized the Tribunal for accepting a narrative that contradicted the established chain of command and procedures within the ASSL, noting that the correct communication channels were bypassed in the witness testimonies. Mrs. Taylor-Pearce addressed the Tribunal’s findings on conflict of interest and breach of confidentiality, both of which she categorically denied. She clarified that no conflict of interest existed, as she had no close or immediate family relationships with any parties involved in the audits in question. Regarding confidentiality, she explained that the third-party authentication requests were handled in accordance with professional standards, and there was no breach of confidentiality as the letters did not disclose any specific details of the auditee. In closing, Mrs. Taylor-Pearce questioned the Tribunal’s overall conclusions, given that no direct evidence of wrongdoing or misconduct on her part was presented during the hearings. She reiterated her commitment to upholding the highest standards of public sector auditing and expressed concern that the Tribunal’s findings could undermine the future of independent public sector auditing in #SierraLeone. Taylor-Pearce also thanked her legal team, led by Mr. Rowland S. V. Wright, as well as her colleagues, family, and supporters for their continued support throughout the process. @dsengeh @JudiciaryofSL

The Travelers Diary... @PresidentBio returned yesterday from Banjul, The Gambia where he attended the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit. He was joined in Banjul by @FirstLadyBio who traveled from the U.S. where she attended an event at Harvard. Chief Minister, @dsengeh went to Turkey with a delegation to renegotiate with @karpowership for electricity supply. He is also representing President Bio at the U.S-Africa Business Summit in Dallas, Texas with another delegation including some people from the private sector. He will hold a Town Hall with the Sierra Leonean community, perhaps in preparation for his marathon at 40. 😎 Another delegation comprising the Attorney General, the Ministry of Finance, the Vice President's Office, EDSA, and the Compact Development Unit are in Washington DC to start negotiations with the @MCCgov (MCC) on the compact program. Meanwhile, the Sierra Leone Teachers Union (SLTU) has reminded the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education of the non-payment of school fees subsidies for the second and third terms of this school year 2023/24. They said the Performance Based Financing funds for schools are also yet to be paid for the current school year. #FreetownStories

@TongiPatrick @VickieRemoe 20 years we go dae complain about mess? You're definitely implying that if your home was trashed by another person you will live in the mess and never clean it because you want to let people know that you were not the one that made the mess. Where is the progress then? Sad nation

@VickieRemoe It's sad that UNDP is celebrating the launch of a report that does not show progress. For crying out loud, Sierra Leone moved three steps backwards in terms of development according to the report. Should we be celebrating retrogression or progress?

Why does the development community host events “to launch” a paper report? I understand launching companies, advertising campaigns, or project but launching a report is something that's always left me confused. Who decided launching report was a best practice? How do reports that are launched perform against those that aren't launched? How does one measure impact of a report launch? Not being facetious, I just don't understand and would like to know how we got here.

Clips from the documentary on Mayor Yvonne by the BBC. First clip she thinks she is going to be arrested. She doesn’t. Next clip she goes live to tell the world the streets are red with blood. They weren’t. Next clip is her deleting the video and saying that people were focused on her live cause they wanted to distract away from the fact that one person died. I couldn’t watch the whole 52 mins film so I fast forward. Film is - Mayor on the frontlines

@hmkpaka It's good you explored these sites to learn. @hmkpaka what is the posibility of partnering with the institute to train Sierra Leonean farmers and interested scientists. 5-10 scholarships a year could increase our expert base to drive the Feed Salone Strategy. Any thoughts, Sir?

There is science, then there is rice science. I toured the Chinese National Rice Research Institute yesterday. I saw their fields, labs, talked to their scientists and engaged their leadership for collaboration. I left knowing a little bit more about rice than just eating it.

@LeoneIssues @million_dr @PresidentBio @dsengeh Talking on social media alone isn't gonna help. Na advocacy don pwel d world. Coz we have people who talk more than they act. Even the politicians started that same way and now they have turned their backs on us. Let's all work in our respective domains and transform the country

BREAKING NEWS !!! In Sierra Leone @PresidentBio and his Chief Minister @dsengeh blocked Sierra Leone Current Issues and affairs on twitter, the enviable social media platform that is bringing the people of Sierra Leone news about the real problems affecting their lives. My fellow Sierra Leoneans you will now believe me when I told you earlier that, I believe the PAOPA, Renaissance, SLPP core guys don’t care about the problems in Sierra Leone. They just want power and money. That is it. Here is my proof! If you want to talk problems, they will block you!! They don’t want to hear about the problems. Bio and Sengeh, you guys are creating more problems for the people of Sierra Leone. The number of ministers you guys have appointed is just not necessary. We don’t need that many ministers. It is a waste of taxpayers resources. It has been 3 months since you guys arrived. What services have your ministers provided for the people? I will say nothing!!! I want to challenge you guys on this. Sierra Leoneans are desperately in need of food. The words feed Salone was last heard of during your last campaign. The people want to see Feed Salone in action. This are the kind of things you guys don’t want to hear and reason why you blocked Sierra Leone Current Issues and Affairs.

@LeoneIssues @reinhold_fatoma @PresidentBio @dsengeh How can education improve when the community isn't supportive. We're now in a state where "If you want your child to be well educated you have to invest nore than money but time, coaching, mentorship, and other leadership and extra curricular support. @LeoneIssues @reinhold_fatoma @PresidentBio @dsengeh Me I'm done talking about the government's poor performance in different sectors because the typical Sierra Leonean is adamant to embrace change. For example, did you know that people vandalize some school buildings at night and use them as brothels?
